Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Project Management Manager (Level L) to join our dynamic team in Kennedy Space Center, Florida or New Orleans, Louisiana

Boeing Defense Space and Security, Space Exploration Services IP&S, is seeking an experienced Integrated Planning and Scheduling Senior Manager to lead the IP&S function across Space Launch Systems, Commercial Crew Transportation Systems, and International Space Station (ISS). The selected individual will report directly to the BDS IP&S Director, and be responsible for all Program Planning, Program Scheduling, Master Production Scheduling, and Commitment Scheduling & Change Commitment for programs. This leader will supervise first line leaders working directly on Programs.

This position will be responsible for ensuring that programs are driving program execution by generating critical analyses and providing robust/actionable performance reporting to support and drive program management understanding, action and problem solving, assessment of risk (including risk/opportunity identification and schedule margin planning/management). The position will be responsible for ensuring consistent application of IP&S processes and tools within these programs

This position is responsible for coordinating staffing, personnel management and employee development within these programs as well as collaborating with BDS IP&S divisional Sr Managers to ensure consistent personnel management and employee development throughout BDS.

This position is responsible for ensuring Schedule compliance to all EVM criteria (in line with tailoring guidelines as applicable) across contracts and programs within the division.

The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, possess strong leadership skills and strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal communication skills. Candidate should also have the aptitude and desire to work closely with program managers as well as functional leads in engineering, manufacturing, finance, and other disciplines to understand the impact of each organization on program execution. Flexibility, initiative, detail orientation, and adaptability are all essential requirements to successfully perform in this environment. Must be able to work independently in a secured/closed environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees and first-level managers that develop projects and program plans at all levels across functional areas and executes all project phases to achieve objectives within scope, time, quality, and constraints from initiation to post completion
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years performing in a leadership role
  • 5+ years of experience in NASA Space programs or a related Space or Defense program
  • 5+ years of experience leading projects that require integration across business units and/or multiple functions
  • 5+ years of experience working with Earn Value Management (EVM)
  • Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience in preparing and presenting executive level briefings

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Directly participates in establishing, managing and administering multiple projects concurrently
  • Experience in developing and managing technical, cost, and schedule metrics and technical performance measures (TPM)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.)
