The Market Surveillance Office of EEX monitors exchange trading to ensure compliance with our rules and regulations as well as national and international law. We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Investigations Team. In this role, you will combine advanced data analysis with regulatory expertise to investigate suspicious trading behavior and safeguard the integrity of European wholesale energy markets.

Your tasks:

  • Lead formal investigations into potential market abuse, irregularities, or breaches of exchange rules and regulations.
  • Collect and analyse complex datasets, corroborate evidence, and assess trading behavior.
  • Investigate potential market manipulation, insider trading or other irregularities within legal frameworks.
  • Prepare clear, well-founded reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities and internal teams on investigations.

Your skills:

  • You have an advanced academic background in economics, quantitative finance, data science, or a related field, and you are passionate about applying rigorous methods to real-world problems.
  • You excel at structured problem-solving and can translate complex questions into clear hypotheses, analytical models, and evidence-based conclusions.
  • You are comfortable working with large, heterogeneous datasets and applying statistical, econometric, or algorithmic approaches to uncover hidden patterns.
  • You have a keen eye for detail and consistency, and you can articulate findings in precise, well-argued reports for regulators and stakeholders.
  • You thrive in an environment that values intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and methodological thoroughness.
