Senior Internal Communications Manager

Reporting to the Head of Organisational Communications, this is a wonderful opportunity for an internal communications manager with more than 10 years’ experience delivering organisational and strategic communication. You’ll have a proven track record of delivering communication strategies that build employee engagement in organisational strategy and confidence through periods of change.
Working across diverse employees’ groups and services, you’ll manage communications for enterprise-wide employee engagement initiatives, provide trusted communications advice to senior leaders, support issues management and crisis responses, and help shape the employee experience across one of Australia’s largest and most respected human services organisations.

About the role
This is a varied internal communications management role where you’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on BAU activity to help connect our people and bring organisational priorities to life.
You’ll develop and execute strategic communication plans that support major transformation programs, service transitions, and organisation-wide initiatives and projects.
You’ll partner closely with leaders across the organisation to craft compelling messages, strengthen employee engagement, and build confidence through periods of change. Whether advising on emerging issues, supporting organisational responses during crises or helping leaders communicate with clarity and authenticity, you’ll be recognised for your sound judgement and practical approach.
Success in this role comes from balancing strategic thinking with a willingness to stay close to the work. From developing communication plans and advising leaders to writing, editing, and publishing engaging content across multiple channels, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality communications that connect and inform our people.
You’ll champion continuous improvement across our internal channels and digital platforms, ensuring our messaging remains accessible, engaging, and aligned with the evolving needs of our people.
About you
You’ve built your career managing internal communications in large organisations and bring extensive experience delivering high-impact engagement and messaging strategies that influence culture, support transformation, and build organisational capability.
You’re equally comfortable providing strategic advice to senior leaders as you are delivering high-quality communications and creating engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.
You’ll bring:
• Extensive experience managing internal communications within a large organisation.
• Demonstrated success partnering with senior leaders to deliver strategic organisational outcomes.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex information into compelling and engaging content.
• Strong experience supporting organisational transformation, change management, issues management, and crisis response.
• Outstanding stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the confidence to provide respectful, constructive challenge.
• Experience balancing strategic planning with hands-on delivery, from developing communication plans to writing, editing, and publishing communications across multiple channels.
• A tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, or related discipline.
• Strong capability in managing enterprise digital channels, including SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
• A calm, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach, with the resilience to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and sound judgement.
