The BERNER Group is transforming its IT landscape across Europe. A new integration platform based on Workato and SAP BTP will connect our systems, data, and business processes.

Now we need an experienced integration engineer who is excited to build it.

You will start with a greenfield setup: configure the platforms, build the first recipes and interfaces, connect SAP and non-SAP systems, establish deployment and monitoring, and take integrations into production.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You will spend most of your time building, testing, debugging, and improving real integrations. Because you are creating the foundation, you will also shape the technical patterns and standards that others will use later.

No finished platform. No established playbook. A real opportunity to build something from scratch.

WHAT YOU WILL BUILD

• Set up and develop our group-wide integration platform based on Workato and SAP BTP

• Build the first business-critical integrations from end to end

• Develop Workato recipes, APIs, webhooks, events, and SAP interfaces

• Connect SAP and non-SAP applications across our European organization

• Create reusable connectors, components, templates, and integration patterns

• Configure environments, access, certificates, secrets, and platform services

• Establish practical development and deployment processes

• Implement testing, logging, monitoring, alerting, and error handling

• Debug failed integrations and solve technical issues in production

• Improve the platform continuously based on real delivery experience

• Document solutions so that future team members can build on your work

• Support and guide additional integration engineers as the team grows

You do not need to be an expert in both Workato and SAP BTP. Deep hands-on experience with one platform and the willingness to quickly learn the other are more important.

THIS ROLE IS A GREAT FIT IF YOU

• Prefer building working solutions over creating slide decks

• Enjoy starting with a blank page and creating the technical foundation

• Like combining platform setup, integration development, and problem-solving

• Want ownership without moving away from hands-on engineering

• Are comfortable making decisions, testing ideas, and improving them along the way

• Want to help shape and later grow an integration engineering team

NICE TO HAVE

• Workato certifications

• Experience with SAP BTP Integration Suite or SAP Cloud Integration

• JavaScript, Groovy, Java, Python, or comparable programming skills

• Experience with Git, automated testing, DevOps, and CI/CD

• Knowledge of API management and observability

• Experience introducing reusable development patterns or supporting other engineers
