Our award-winning Analytics for Manufacturing Imaging (AMI) team is pioneering the use of AI computer vision in manufacturing, developing scalable platform capabilities that enable every manufacturing engineer to unlock value from visual data. Building on this foundation, the Visual Process Monitoring (VPM) Deployment Acceleration Team is responsible for deploying AI-enabled process monitoring solutions across Medtronic's global manufacturing network.

The Senior Integration Engineer will serve as a technical deployment and integration specialist responsible for onboarding manufacturing equipment, machine vision systems, and operational technologies into the AMI ecosystem. This role focuses on implementing and improving reusable integration patterns, enabling imaging and process data connectivity, supporting site deployments, and ensuring manufacturing assets can rapidly leverage AI-enabled visual process monitoring capabilities.

The successful candidate will combine expertise in manufacturing systems, industrial automation, machine vision integration, and operational technology connectivity to accelerate deployment of Visual Process Monitoring solutions while helping expand the types of equipment, vision systems, and manufacturing processes that can be connected to the AMI platform.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with manufacturing sites, automation engineers, controls engineers, and equipment owners to onboard machines, vision systems, and manufacturing processes into the AMI platform.

  • Assess existing manufacturing equipment and determine optimal approaches for collecting image data, process data, machine state information, and operational context needed to enable AI-driven monitoring solutions.

  • Configure and deploy AMI data collection infrastructure, image acquisition workflows, metadata pipelines, and connectivity services supporting VPM deployments.

  • Implement, enhance, and support reusable integration patterns connecting industrial cameras, machine vision systems, PLCs, MES platforms, historians, databases, and manufacturing equipment to AMI solutions.

  • Configure and support Ignition gateways, tag structures, data models, scripts, and visualization components used to enable manufacturing intelligence workflows.

  • Establish and validate connectivity using industrial protocols including OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet, and other manufacturing communication standards.

  • Collaborate with Computer Vision Engineers and platform engineers to ensure deployed systems properly support image acquisition, metadata capture, model execution, monitoring, and visualization requirements.

  • Develop and prototype new integration approaches that enable previously unsupported equipment, image sources, automation systems, and manufacturing processes to leverage AMI capabilities.

  • Convert successful site-specific integrations into reusable deployment patterns, onboarding templates, reference architectures, and best practices that can be replicated across manufacturing sites.

  • Identify opportunities to automate deployment, onboarding, configuration, and validation activities to improve deployment speed and scalability.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, automation, and data flow issues impacting deployment success and production operations.

  • Support deployment, commissioning, validation, and sustainment activities for VPM solutions across manufacturing sites.

  • Create technical documentation, deployment playbooks, integration standards, and training materials that improve adoption and reduce implementation effort.

  • Coach site engineers and technical resources on AMI capabilities, integration patterns, troubleshooting approaches, and deployment methodologies.

  • Support multiple concurrent VPM deployments while continuously improving platform scalability, repeatability, and user experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience with an advanced degree

  • 2+ years experience deploying solutions across multiple manufacturing sites or operational environments.

  • 2+ years experience collecting operational, process, machine-state, and image-based data from manufacturing assets.

  • 1 year experience connecting operational technology (OT) systems to enterprise software platforms and data infrastructures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Medtronic experience

  • Experience integrating manufacturing equipment, inspection systems, machine vision systems, automation equipment, or industrial control systems into production environments.

  • Experience working directly with OEM equipment suppliers, controls engineers, automation engineers, and manufacturing personnel during equipment deployment and commissioning.

  • Understanding of manufacturing equipment architectures and automation system design principles.

  • Experience with OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet, or similar industrial communication protocols.

  • Familiarity with industrial networking, Edge architectures, IoT platforms, and manufacturing data systems.

  • Experience developing and deploying solutions using Ignition

  • Experience integrating MES, historians, SCADA systems, databases, ERP platforms, and manufacturing analytics solutions.

  • Experience configuring dashboards, operational visibility solutions, and manufacturing intelligence applications.

  • Understanding of image acquisition architectures and deployment of vision systems within manufacturing environments.

  • Experience developing reusable deployment methodologies, integration templates, implementation guides, and support documentation.

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and ability to work directly with plant personnel, engineering teams, automation teams, and site leadership.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
