The Team

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Insurance to join American Tower’s Corporate Legal organization within the Global Risk and Insurance Management team. Reporting to the Global Director of Insurance, the Senior Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight of global and local insurance programs and enterprise risk management initiatives. The Senior Manager partners closely with executives, regional teams, brokers, insurers, and legal counsel to design, negotiate, and optimize insurance programs that protect the Company’s global operations.

This role is ideal for a seasoned insurance and risk management professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience working in a complex, global environment.

What You Can Offer Us

  • Provide strategic leadership for the design, execution, and ongoing optimization of global and local insurance programs across multiple lines of business.
  • Independently gather, assess, and analyze complex insurance and risk data from internal stakeholders and translate insights into strategic recommendations aligned with enterprise risk management objectives.
  • Partner with Director to shape market strategy and influence carrier selection and program structure decisions.
  • Co-develop claims strategy, including litigation positioning, root-cause analysis, and loss-control improvement.
  • Own and lead the annual renewal process for assigned global and regional lines of business, including timeline management, market strategy, and executive-level presentations.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups focused on risk mitigation contract insurance requirements, and operational insurance process improvements.
  • Oversee the governance, review, and maintenance of insurance policies and related documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Develop and enhance insurance reporting, analytics, invoicing procedures, and systems to support informed decision-making and transparency.
  • Act as project lead for special risk initiatives and support insurance-related integration for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Play a visible role in global risk assessments, helping identify insurance opportunities and advising on long-range risk financing strategies.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree or professional designations (e.g., associate in risk management, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional) preferred.
  • Between 8-12 years of progressive insurance, risk management, finance, or related experience, including experience managing complex global insurance programs strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in underwriting, insurance program design, claims management, and insurer/broker negotiations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into executive-level recommendations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional workstreams or initiatives preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to senior leaders and influence decision-making.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance-related data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse functional groups and all organizational levels.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for yourself and a team to meet requirements and deadlines.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate a team to achieve results.
