With expertise across fields such as transportation, quantum science, medical countermeasures and advanced manufacturing, the NRC is hiring to drive the development of national sovereign defence capabilities. The following role will support the NRC’s contributions to defence priorities.
We are looking for a Senior Instrumentation Technologist to support the Systems Engineering team of the Drone Flight and Autonomy Lab (DFAL) of the Aerospace Research Centre. The selected candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
As a Senior Instrumentation Technologist, you will play a key role in supporting advanced flight simulation and mobile ground control station capabilities. Working in a team-centric environment with the Systems Engineering Team and other multidisciplinary groups, you will apply your hands-on expertise in software, networking, and hardware integration to deliver reliable, high-performance laboratory systems.
In this role, you will help define project and laboratory requirements, develop practical plans within resource, budget, and schedule constraints, and independently carry out the procurement, installation, instrumentation, operation, maintenance, and optimization of these complex systems. You will also document system changes and support procurement and supplier management activities, contributing directly to the success and continuous improvement of cutting-edge research infrastructure.
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
A minimum of a Diploma from a three-year post-secondary Engineering Technology program or an Applied Science Technology program in electrical engineering, electronics or in instrumentation.

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation or Process Control Engineering combined with relevant experience may also be considered.
