We are currently seeking a Senior Instrumentation Designer reporting directly to the Head of the Department to join our team based in UAE, Abu Dhabi.

Senior Instrumentation Designer Job Description

The Senior Instrumentation Designer is responsible for the development, coordination, and production of Instrumentation and Control design deliverables for FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects in the Oil & Gas sector. The role requires extensive experience in offshore projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications, international standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review Instrumentation and Control design deliverables for offshore and onshore Oil & Gas projects.
  • Prepare and check:
  • Instrument Location Layouts
  • Control Room Layouts
  • Equipment Layout Drawings
  • Instrument Hook-up Drawings
  • Loop Diagrams
  • Junction Box Wiring Diagrams
  • Instrument Cable Block Diagrams
  • Instrument Termination Diagrams
  • Cable Routing and Tray Layouts
  • Cable Schedules
  • Material Take-Offs (MTO)
  • As-Built Documentation
  • Perform 3D modeling of field instruments, impulse tubing, junction boxes, local control panels, cable trays, and associated Instrumentation components.
  • Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Telecom, and Civil disciplines to ensure design integration.
  • Participate in site surveys, constructability reviews, and field verification activities.
  • Support proposal and bidding activities by developing preliminary layouts, MTOs, man-hour estimates, and engineering deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, international codes, and company procedures.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers and provide technical support during project execution.
  • Support engineering teams during design reviews, HAZOP, model reviews, and client meetings.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality design documentation in accordance with project schedules.

Software Requirements

Candidates must have strong hands-on experience in at least two or more of the following:

  • SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI / INtools)
  • Smart 3D (SP3D)
  • AVEVA E3D
  • AVEVA Instrumentation

Additional proficiency in:

  • PDMS
  • AutoCAD
  • MicroStation
  • Navisworks (preferred)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years to 20 years of Instrumentation Design experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Offshore projects.
  • Extensive experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and Brownfield projects.
  • Proven experience working on ADNOC Offshore projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Instrumentation installation practices
  • Offshore platform design
  • Cable routing and tray design
  • Hazardous area requirements
  • International codes and standards (IEC, ISA, ADNOC Specifications)
  • Ability to work independently and lead design activities within the Instrumentation discipline.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • UAE experience and immediate availability will be an advantage.

Preferred Experience

  • ADNOC Offshore projects (preferred).
  • Experience with major EPC contractors such as Technip Energies, NPCC, McDermott, Petrofac, Saipem, Wood, Kent, Worley, or similar organizations.
  • Experience in offshore production facilities, wellhead towers, central processing platforms, and subsea-related developments.

Experience Range: 15-20 Years

Industry: Oil & Gas / Offshore EPC

Location: UAE

Preference: ADNOC Offshore project experience highly preferred.

Starting Date: ASAP
