Job Description

 OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Senior Instructional Designer with a strong background in end-to-end curriculum development, eLearning design, and adult learning principles to support the design, development, and implementation of global learning programs. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional partners — including subject matter experts, technology teams, and business stakeholders — to assess learning needs, develop engaging courseware, and ensure that solutions drive measurable learner impact.

This role is ideal for a creative, tech-forward learning professional who thrives in dynamic environments, embraces AI-powered design tools, and is comfortable both designing and developing learning experiences — from concept through implementation. The ideal candidate will also take ownership of a learning platform and contribute to day-to-day operational support.

  • Location: Heredia, CR (Fully Remote)
  • Contract Length: 12 Months
  • Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop global curriculum programs that help teams adopt new technologies and engage with AI-powered tools and platforms.
  • Create engaging and interactive online content using technical design, creative storytelling, and instructional strategy.
  • Manage the end-to-end design and development of assigned learning programs from concept through implementation and quality assurance, maintaining a focus on scalability and learner impact.
  • Work from established project briefs and curriculum frameworks, conducting needs assessments when required.
  • Design training courseware across multiple delivery modes including instructor-led, virtual, self-paced eLearning, microlearning, videos, infographics, guides, and simulations.
  • Own the Intrepid platform, managing configurations, updates, and day-to-day operational support.
  • Execute and prioritize Intrepid support tickets to ensure timely resolution.
  • Integrate AI technologies into design workflows to streamline content creation and enhance learner engagement.
  • Partner with stakeholders to assess learning needs and translate them into actionable, measurable learning objectives.
  • Address course changes and feedback in a timely manner to ensure content remains current and relevant.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of instructional design and curriculum development experience, with demonstrated ability in both design and development (end-to-end ownership required).
  • Training and experience applying instructional design practices and methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, course development methodologies, and Bloom's Taxonomy.
  • Experience interfacing with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) and Synthesia.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) in content creation and problem-solving.
  • Understanding of responsible and ethical use of AI in instructional design.
  • Ability to learn new platforms and systems quickly.
  • High degree of initiative, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to communicate ideas and incorporate feedback effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience with video editing tools (Camtasia, Premiere, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience with AI-enabled design platforms (e.g., WellSaid Labs).
  • Basic graphic design and typography skills with familiarity in Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of Kirkpatrick's training evaluation levels.
  • Participation in recognized training industry organizations (e.g., Association for Talent Development).

Education

  • BS/BA or equivalent experience required.
  • Instructional Design degree or Training Development certificate is a plus.

NOTES FOR APPLICANTS

  • Resumes must clearly indicate prior instructional design experience and specify the types of learning programs developed (e.g., manager development, technical enablement, onboarding, AI literacy).
  • Candidates must demonstrate experience as both an instructional designer and a developer — end-to-end ownership of learning programs is a non-negotiable requirement for this role.
  • A portfolio of work is preferred and should be submitted prior to or at the time of interview.
  • Candidates should highlight specific eLearning tools and AI-powered platforms used in past roles, particularly Articulate 360 and Synthesia.
  • This position is fully remote — no on-site requirement.
