Job Description

Hands-on role responsible for operating, automating, and recovering enterprise on-prem and Azure infrastructure. The expectation is day-to-day Azure administration and troubleshooting in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

VMware / Converged Infrastructure

• Administer VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS, LCM).
• Operate VxBlock and VxRail:
• Deployment, node expansion, upgrades, patching, break/fix.
• Configure and manage VMware NSX:
• Logical switches, gateways, firewall rules, micro-segmentation.
• Work with network teams on VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancers.

Automation

• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for:
• VM provisioning
• Configuration management
• Patch automation
• Operational consistency and remediation
• Integrate Ansible with VMware and Azure modules.

Azure Administration

• Administer Azure subscriptions and resource groups.
• Manage Azure Virtual Machines:
• Provisioning, resizing, disk management, patching, monitoring.
• Administer Azure networking:
• VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables
• VPN Gateway / ExpressRoute (operational support)
• Hybrid connectivity with on-prem VMware

Manage Azure storage:

• Managed disks, storage accounts, backups, snapshots.
• Work with Azure identity services:
• Azure AD integration
• RBAC and role assignments
• Monitor and troubleshoot Azure resources using:
• Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, alerts.
• Support Azure backup and recovery operations.
• Perform routine cost and resource hygiene:
• Identify unused resources
• Basic cost awareness and cleanup (not FinOps ownership).

DR, Security & Recovery

• Execute Disaster Recovery procedures:
• Failover and failback activities
• DR drills and validation
• Execute ransomware recovery workflows:
• Backup validation
• Clean restores and isolation steps

Backup Operations

• Operate Avamar and Data Domain:
• Backup policy configuration
• Restore operations
• Job monitoring and troubleshooting

Basic Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on infrastructure experience

Preferred Requirements

• VMware vSphere
• VxBlock
• VxRail
• VMware NSX
• Solid networking fundamentals
• Proven Ansible Automation Experience
• Strong Azure administration experience in production environments
• Hands-on experience with DR and ransomware recovery
• Operational experience with Avamar and Data Domain
• Certifications (added advantage)
  • VMware: VCP / VCAP
  • Microsoft: Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or equivalent
  • Redhat certified Specialist in Ansible Administration
