What’s the role?

This role provides senior technical and operational leadership within Westpac’s Oracle Database Platform. It is accountable for driving AI adoption, automation, and RUN excellence across Oracle environments, while ensuring platform stability, performance, security, and continuous improvement.

Acting as the lead RUN engineer, the role owns key strategic initiatives including Oracle AI enablement, automation and shift‑left delivery, OEM platform modernisation, and operational optimisation across Exadata‑based platforms. The position also provides technical leadership, end‑to‑end operational ownership, and mentoring across onshore and offshore teams.

What do I need?

• Oracle Database & Engineering SME expertise, including deep hands-on experience with complex, large-scale enterprise platforms.
• Strong application domain knowledge, enabling effective engagement with application teams and understanding of database–application integrations.
• Advanced Oracle automation and AI capability, including design and implementation of automation frameworks and AI-assisted operations.
• Exadata performance tuning expertise, covering Database, OS, GRID, Storage, and InfiniBand technologies.
• Proven track record delivering automation-first RUN models, including shift-left and self-service capabilities.
• Automation & AI tooling (including Agentic AI)
• JIRA, Confluence, Mintpress (or equivalent workflow and documentation tools)
