Senior Infrastructure & Platform Engineer — Defence

Location: Puckapunyal, Victoria
Clearance: Current NV1 required
Engagement: Contract | Onsite | Interstate travel as required

Pinaka is seeking a capable Senior Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to commission, operate and improve the infrastructure supporting LS Core 2.0 within a Defence environment.

We bring this opportunity to you via a prime contractor supporting Defence.

This is a hands-on, single-practitioner role for an infrastructure engineer who is comfortable working autonomously across Windows and Linux systems, Active Directory, virtualisation and endpoint-management platforms in a secure operational environment.

What you'll do

• Deploy and administer Windows Server Active Directory, Group Policy, identity integrations and security configurations.
• Install, configure and maintain enterprise Windows and Linux systems supporting LS Core 2.0 workloads.
• Commission new infrastructure components as the Tranche 2 capability expands.
• Administer and optimise VMware vSphere/ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
• Lead migration of virtual machines from VMware to Hyper-V, maintaining stability and minimising disruption.
• Build and configure Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines to Defence standards.
• Manage capacity, patching, resilience and HA/DR activities.
• Manage Microsoft Endpoint Manager, including Intune/MECM, OS imaging, application packaging and deployment, endpoint policies, updates and compliance reporting.
• Maintain secure SOE and server-build artefacts, configuration baselines and operational documentation.
• Provide Level 2/3 support, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and service restoration.
• Apply system hardening, privileged-access controls and Defence security policies.
• Support accreditation, audit, security-assurance and risk-mitigation activities.
• Work with capability leads, technical stakeholders and partner organisations to plan and deliver infrastructure outcomes.

What we're looking for

• Demonstrated SFIA Level 4 experience in system administration or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong Windows Server and Active Directory experience, including design, provisioning, security and policy.
• Proven Windows and Linux enterprise-system administration experience.
• Hands-on VMware and Hyper-V capability, including migration between platforms.
• Practical Microsoft Endpoint Manager experience across Intune and MECM.
• Strong diagnostics, troubleshooting and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently as the sole technical practitioner for the system domain.

Highly regarded

• Defence ICT or other complex secure-environment experience.
• Experience with LS Core 2.0 or Defence capability programs.
• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-800/801 or MS-102.
• VMware VCP, RHCSA, LPIC or equivalent qualifications.
• Tertiary qualifications in IT, cyber security or engineering.

To be eligible, you must hold a current NV1 security clearance
