Job Description

This is a remote position.

Superlanet is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for our healthcare client in Texas. This is a direct-hire, remote opportunity.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer serves as a technical lead responsible for designing, securing, and operating enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. This role adds an increased security focus to an established infrastructure engineering position, emphasizing system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and healthcare compliance.

This position supports clinical and enterprise workloads, including Epic EHR, and plays a key role in ensuring infrastructure stability, resiliency, and security to support hospital operations and long-term scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Architecture & Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and secure enterprise infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and identity services

  • Architect and maintain secure hybrid connectivity between on-premises datacenters and cloud environments (Azure, AWS)

  • Ensure availability, performance, and security of Epic and third-party healthcare systems

  • Apply security-by-design principles to infrastructure supporting clinical, academic, and administrative workloads

Systems Administration, Security & Operations

  • Administer and secure Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and identity platforms

  • Manage virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V) with a focus on isolation, least privilege, and high availability

  • Implement and maintain enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions

  • Perform system hardening, patching, and configuration management aligned with security best practices

  • Monitor infrastructure health and security posture using logging, monitoring, and SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, SolarWinds)

  • Support vulnerability remediation, security incident response, and root-cause analysis

  • Ensure infrastructure environments align with HIPAA and healthcare regulatory requirements

Automation, Monitoring & Optimization

  • Automate infrastructure and security operations using scripting and configuration management tools

  • Proactively monitor systems, perform capacity planning, and optimize infrastructure for secure scalability

  • Identify security gaps, operational risks, and modernization opportunities across platforms

Collaboration, Leadership & Project Delivery

  • Partner with cloud, network, security, and application teams to deliver secure, resilient infrastructure

  • Lead infrastructure initiatives such as Epic readiness, system migrations, and new technology deployments

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers

  • Work with vendors to evaluate, procure, and maintain infrastructure and security solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or related roles

  • Proven hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure including Windows/Linux systems, Active Directory, virtualization, and networking

  • Strong experience with enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and lead root-cause analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Epic infrastructure and healthcare clinical applications

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience securing infrastructure and remediating vulnerabilities in regulated environments

  • Experience operating in HIPAA-regulated or highly regulated healthcare settings

  • Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or cloud-specific security certifications are nice-to-haves, not requirements

  • Experience with ITIL-based incident, change, and problem management processes

  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Ansible)

  • Ability to lead infrastructure initiatives with a strong security and resiliency mindset

Benefits

Salary based on experience. $130,000 - $145,000
