Job Details

IP Australia’s Innovation Technology Group is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join its cloud platforms team. The role will deploy, maintain and secure cloud platforms and associated networking across AWS and Azure.

The successful candidate will help improve the security, reliability and operational maturity of the agency’s cloud platforms by strengthening identity controls, cloud-native security monitoring, infrastructure automation and staff capability.

The role requires significant recent experience implementing AWS cloud-based infrastructure solutions. Azure experience is advantageous, ideally within a Commonwealth Government context.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with stakeholders to deliver stable and secure software and environments that align with IP Australia’s reference architecture.
  • Designing, developing and maintaining Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Development (CD) pipelines.
  • Deploying and servicing cloud initiatives in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Administering and optimising cloud environments in accordance with IP Australia’s architectural, technical and security guidelines.
  • Collaborating with and mentoring teams on new cloud-based initiatives and associated best practice.
  • Investigating, analysing, troubleshooting and resolving issues within IP Australia’s cloud environments.
  • Undertaking continual improvement activities based on identified opportunities.
  • Maintaining the processes, procedures and documentation required for effective environment maintenance.
  • Maintaining an understanding of responsibilities under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 and promoting a healthy and safe workplace.
  • Responding constructively to workplace change and working effectively with diverse teams.
  • Providing technical support and consultative advice to architects, application developers and project teams on cloud technologies and solution designs.

Essential Criteria

  1. Demonstrable working knowledge of the AWS Cloud Platform and the services and policies required to maintain reliability and security of all accounts. Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Identity and Access Management including EntraID, SCIM and AWS IAM 25%
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cloud native security tools such as AWS Security Hub, Microsoft Defender and Sentinel 25%
  3. Demonstrable experience in networking in a modern cloud deployment. 15%
  4. Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement in new and emerging technologies 10%
  5. Well-developed communication skills and the ability to mentor and guide people to uplift their cloud skills. 15%
  6. Demonstrated experience in technical delivery including identifying technical and delivery risks 10%
