Index.dev is partnering with StockStory (CNBC / VERSANT) to hire a Senior AI Engineer in Prague.
VERSANT is an independent, publicly traded company that brings together powerhouse brands such as CNBC, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), USA Network, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Golf Channel along with dynamic digital and direct-to-consumer brands such as Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine.
StockStory, now part of CNBC under VERSANT, is building the next generation of AI-powered equity research for individual investors. This is a chance to help build the platform behind products that can shape how millions of CNBC readers understand markets and make investing decisions.
We offer the best parts of a startup environment — small team, high ownership, fast execution, and room to build with real autonomy — with the backing and stability of VERSANT, an independent publicly traded media company.
You will be joining a team of exceptional engineers, analysts, and investors at a pivotal stage of growth. This is a rare opportunity to help transform a startup system into a mature, rock-solid platform: shaping how we scale for significantly higher data volumes, a larger engineering organization, and broader product reach. You will own foundational decisions across cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and developer experience, while improving the reliability and resilience of systems already serving real users.
We're looking for a highly capable Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team to build the next generation of AI-powered equity research.
This role is for engineers who enjoy building and operating the infrastructure foundations behind demanding product, data, and machine learning workloads. It is especially well suited to people who want to own meaningful infrastructure domains, lead complex technical initiatives, and help ensure the systems that power product and AI experiences remain reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-efficient.
You will design, build, and operate core infrastructure systems that support our products: containerized platforms, distributed services, deployment and runtime environments, and the systems that enable ML training, batch processing, and low-latency inference. Your work will directly shape the quality and resilience of the engineering platform used across the company.
This role sits within a small and growing, high-caliber team where individuals are expected to operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy, contributing directly to platform, engineering, and infrastructure decisions while working closely with application, ML, and leadership teams in a highly collaborative, low-bureaucracy environment with direct access to decision-makers.
A genuine interest in investing, public markets, and fundamental business analysis is expected.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering
Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems in production
Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, or Java
Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
Experience operating production services in Node.js, JVM-based, or Python environments
Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, and storage fundamentals
Experience with capacity planning, resource management, and performance optimization
Production experience with at least one major cloud provider
Experience building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Ability to lead technical projects and mentor other engineers
Design and implement scalable infrastructure systems supporting backend services and ML workloads
Own and evolve containerized platforms across services and environments
Improve reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency across compute, storage, and networking layers
Contribute to engineering standards for availability, performance, resilience, security, and operational excellence
Partner closely with application and ML engineers to deliver production-ready infrastructure
Drive secure-by-default configurations across cloud and platform systems
Lead incident response, postmortems, and systemic improvements
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Experience optimizing cloud cost, performance, and resource utilization at scale
Experience building internal platforms or tooling that improved developer productivity and operational excellence
