Dinsmore is seeking a Senior Information Governance Analyst at our Troy, MI location. The Senior Information Governance Analyst is responsible for understanding and maintaining processes, policies, and appropriate controls to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual and business requirements for the proper management, retention and disposition of data.
The Senior IG Analyst assists the Information Governance Manager with the formation and execution of information governance framework, policies, and standards. Focusing on managing the information flow within the organization as well as movement of information into and out of the firm’s environment to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. This position will assist in the growth of the enterprise information governance program.
Responsibilities

• Drive awareness and compliance to ensure proper data classification, transfer, collection and retention of all Client and Firm materials
• Provide expertise to the IG and Records staff on execution and implementation of procedures and standards
• Assist in the documentation of best practices in the use of technology and workflow processes.
• Drive process improvement through collaboration with data owners by understanding business goals and objectives and aligning to the information governance program
• Identify and advance automation opportunities to improve the efficiency of day-to-day IG operational processes
• Develop and communicate guidelines for enterprise information management practices.
• Provide thought leadership and participate with projects that involve any data flows and processes
• Refine and maintain data mapping processes
• Foster communication plans that ensure data owners are aware of and understand the information governance strategy and policies and comprehend their role and responsibilities
• Participate with security team in data loss prevention initiatives including implementation of appropriate processes with the business and management of technical solutions to prevent data loss, based on data classification
• Assist with data management with respect to vendor controls and impact on firm data integrity.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of related duties and responsibilities; prior law firm background preferred
• Ability to communicate and document comprehensive technical issues for a nontechnical audience in a professional manner
• IT background with competency or exposure to Active Directory and other access control tools a plus
• Working within previous Information Governance programs; building out programs or processes a plus
• Experience with Varonis a plus
