- Assess and redesign navigation structures, taxonomies, content hierarchies, metadata, and site structures to improve usability and findability.
- Map key user journeys, identify friction points, and recommend opportunities to create simpler and more intuitive experiences.
- Facilitate stakeholder and user discovery workshops to gather insights, align priorities, and translate diverse perspectives into actionable recommendations.
- Partner with content strategists to align information architecture, taxonomy, metadata, content models, and content structures.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers on responsive templates, reusable components, and shared design-system experiences.
- Translate research findings, business requirements, and user needs into clear experience principles, IA recommendations, and design direction.
- Champion accessibility and inclusive design throughout the experience architecture, with attention to WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- Work with technical architects and CMS specialists to ensure proposed information architecture and experience models can be effectively implemented.
- Contribute to major website redesigns, CMS re-platforming initiatives, and broader digital modernization programs.
- Communicate complex IA and UX concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders and facilitate alignment across teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in UX, information architecture, or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience personally leading information architecture for large, content-rich websites with hundreds or thousands of pages
- Demonstrated experience working across multi-site and/or multi-brand digital ecosystems
- Experience leading or contributing significantly to large-scale website redesigns and CMS re-platforming or digital modernization initiatives
- Strong knowledge of taxonomy design, navigation, content hierarchy, metadata, content modeling, and user journey mapping.
- Experience conducting user research, discovery activities, and stakeholder facilitation workshops.
- Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design, including WCAG 2.2 AA

- Ability to bridge user needs, business requirements, content strategy, and technical implementation.
- Strong communication, facilitation, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within government, public sector, higher education, financial services, or similarly complex organizations is highly valuable.
- Experience modernizing a large government or public-sector web ecosystem involving multiple websites or brands is particularly valuable.
- Candidates should be prepared to provide 2–3 relevant projects, including their role, approximate scale or number of sites/pages, and CMS or platform involved.
Benefits
- CAD $75–$95 per hour contract rate.
- Fully remote position available to candidates across Canada.
