Aequilibrium is assembling a senior Canadian team for a potential large-scale digital experience modernization initiative involving a complex, multi-brand public web ecosystem.

We are looking for a Senior Information Architect / UX Lead to lead the experience architecture across multiple public-facing websites and help create a simpler, more consistent and accessible experience for diverse audiences.

This is a senior, hands-on role combining information architecture, UX strategy and stakeholder facilitation. The hourly rate for this contract is between $75-$95/h.

What you'll do

  • Lead the information architecture strategy across a multi-site, multi-brand web ecosystem.

  • Map key user journeys and identify opportunities to improve findability and usability.
  • Facilitate stakeholder and user discovery workshops.

  • Help translate research and business requirements into clear experience principles and recommendations.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusive design are considered throughout the experience.
  • Work closely with technical architects and CMS specialists to ensure the proposed IA can be effectively implemented.

What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in people who have personally led large-scale website redesign and CMS modernization initiatives

Strong candidates will have:

  • 8+ years of UX and/or information architecture experience.
  • Experience leading IA for large, content-rich websites with hundreds or thousands of pages
  • Demonstrated multi-site and/or multi-brand experience.
  • Experience with government, public sector, higher education, financial services or similarly complex organizations.
  • Experience working on a CMS re-platforming or major web modernization initiative.
  • Strong knowledge of taxonomy, navigation design, user journeys and content modelling.
  • Experience with user research and stakeholder facilitation.
  • Understanding of WCAG 2.2 AA and accessible design.
  • Experience working with design systems and component-based web experiences.

Especially valuable: experience modernizing a large government/public-sector web ecosystem involving multiple websites or brands.

When applying, please include 2–3 relevant projects, your role on each, the approximate scale/number of sites or pages, and the CMS/platform involved.
