From autonomous cars to life-saving robots, our digital and software technology experts think outside the box as they provide unique R&D and engineering services across all industries. Join us for a career full of opportunities. Where you can make a difference. Where no two days are the same.

Your role

This role is ideal for a qualified industrial designer with strong mechanical design capability, practical manufacturing knowledge, and experience developing products across varied markets, including medical device development. You will work within multidisciplinary product development teams across industrial design, mechanical engineering, electronics hardware, firmware, software and UX/UI.

You will play a key role in:

  • Lead and contribute to industrial design activities across the full product development lifecycle, from discovery, concept generation and prototyping through to tooling, manufacturing support and production release.
  • Translate user needs, client requirements, technical constraints and market opportunities into clear product concepts, design directions and production-ready outcomes.
  • Develop mechanically sound product designs, including enclosure architecture, mechanisms, component integration, material selection, tolerance considerations, assembly strategy and serviceability.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers, electronics designers, firmware/software engineers, UX/UI specialists, suppliers and clients to resolve integration challenges and deliver coherent product outcomes.
  • Prepare sketches, CAD models, surface models, prototypes, renders, presentation material, design specifications and development documentation suitable for client reviews and internal technical decision-making.
  • Support prototype builds, design reviews, supplier engagement, manufacturing process development, tooling readiness, design verification and transfer into production.
  • Apply practical design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly thinking across processes such as injection moulding, sheet metal, machining, additive manufacturing, elastomers, coatings and production assembly.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, de-risking plans, usability considerations, design validation activities and structured decision-making throughout development.
  • Support regulated product development where required, including medical device design controls, ISO 13485-aligned documentation, traceability and design history inputs.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Electronics Engineering, Software Engineer, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Experience developing medical or scientific products, ideally within an ISO 13485-certified or otherwise regulated product development environment.
  • Strong capability in professional CAD and visualisation tools such as SolidWorks (preferred) or comparable platforms.
  • Good understanding of human factors, ergonomics, usability research, workflow analysis and design validation for physical products and device interfaces.
  • Experience designing around electronics, PCBs, sensors, displays, batteries, cabling, thermal management, sealing, ingress protection, cleaning and maintenance requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of supplier engagement, production costing trade-offs, tooling constraints, quality expectations and the realities of low volume through to high-volume manufacture.
  • Ability to contribute across different sectors, including MedTech, business products, consumer products, mobility, industrial systems and start-up product development.
  • Experience mentoring junior designers, leading design workstreams, facilitating workshops and presenting confidently to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Interest in sustainable design, circular product thinking, material efficiency and designing products that are durable, serviceable and appropriate for their intended context.
