Job Description

Your role at Dynatrace

Dashboards and Notebooks are where hundreds of thousands of people go to make sense of their systems: an SRE mid-incident, an engineer watching a rollout, an analyst chasing a cost spike. Their job is to get from a wall of telemetry to a decision, often in minutes. Designing that is the heart of this role: making dense data legible and fast to act on, under real pressure.

The other half of the work is AI: what it should be in a product like this. Not a chatbot bolted onto a dashboard, but interfaces that help people notice the right thing, ask a better question, and trust what they're told when it matters. That space is still being figured out, and you'd help define it.

In this role, you will:
  • Own hard data visualization and interaction problems end to end, from flow to detail, alongside PMs and engineers who treat you as a peer.
  • Build, don't just mock. Work in code and ship interactive artifacts you can test with real users.
  • Define how AI shows up in the product: when it should surface something, and when it should stay quiet.
  • Set the craft bar for the area and raise the people around you, including helping engineers make better design calls.
  • Use AI to clear your own routine work so your time goes where judgement is needed.

What will help you succeed

  • A hands-on senior or principal designer who has shipped software products and is still deep in the craft.
  • Craft in dense, data-heavy interfaces. You sweat the details others miss.
  • Technical fluency. You follow the engineering conversation and design for the domain, not around it.
  • Balance depth and speed. AI makes output fast and cheap; knowing when it's wrong is the scarce skill.
  • Judgement about which problem to solve, not just how to solve it. You question assumptions, form your own opinions, and keep moving when the problem isn't yet defined.

When applying: we read portfolios as design work. How you structure and present a case study tells us how you think. We look for:
  • Depth over breadth. 1 or 2 complex projects, well documented.
  • Work close to this: enterprise, B2B, SaaS, developer tools, or data-heavy interfaces. No direct match? Show your closest analog.
  • A clear account of the problem, your role, the decisions, and what shipped.
  • A real reason for applying to Dynatrace. Time with the product goes a long way

About Dynatrace

Dynatrace keeps today’s AI-driven world working by advancing observability for today’s digital business. The world relies on software, but what isn’t seen is just how much complexity goes on behind the scenes to make sure everything stays up and running. Most businesses today have huge digital ecosystems made up of software, data flows, applications, and hybrid-cloud environments. As these ecosystems grow in complexity, so do the points of failure. Outages and glitches resulting in grounded flights or failed financial transactions prove how critical it is that software works as expected, making AI-powered observability an essential capability to ensure digital businesses run smoothly and recover quickly — keeping the world working. Dynatrace provides businesses with a holistic view of their entire digital ecosystem, removing the burden of operational monitoring and alert management. By automating these tasks, teams are empowered to transform complexity into their greatest asset and to drive their business forward by focusing on high-impact initiatives, driving topline acceleration, fueling innovation, and delivering experiences customers love.
