We are looking for a new colleague to join our API team in the Cloud Networking Products division. We own the APIs of the networking products that enable customers to secure and isolate their resources and workloads on the Akamai Cloud, such as Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and Cloud Firewall.

As a Software Engineer Senior II, you will be responsible for:

• Helping build out cloud platform functionality that sets up, manages, and protects networking in the Akamai Cloud.
• Designing and implementing clean, robust and performant REST APIs used by customers and internal teams.
• Developing and maintaining internal libraries and microservices used by various teams in Akamai.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality Python code in close collaboration with your team.
• Reviewing and contributing to architectural and design documents authored by other teams.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have background with mainstream programming languages, such as Python, Java, C#, or Go.
• Have solid skills in writing, testing and understanding complex software.
• Have experience in designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Be experienced in technical design, product specifications reviews, projects and backlog planning.
• Be able to work productively with team members to identify and resolve issues in a collaborative manner.
• Have good communication skills, and experience in communicating with leadership and non-developer stakeholders.
• Be experienced in mentoring other developers.

Some of the tools and frameworks we use are Python, docker, pytest, MySQL, SQLAlchemy, Flask, Prometheus and Grafana. While we don't expect you to have experience with all of them, curiosity and a willingness to learn is a must. Experience with developing microservices is a nice bonus. We are a team with a diverse background and while the majority of the team members are located in Denmark, our main working language is English.
