We are currently looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join our growing team to develop integrated circuits at the heart of modern power systems. We are seeking a hardware design engineer to provide expertise on system-level board schematic and layout design, to enable IC validation and verification. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Applications, System Architecture) to develop hardware tools necessary for IC design and verification purposes, as well as applications and customer validation evaluation boards. A broad range of industry experience is desired, but specific experience in power management products in high-performance computing, automotive, industrial or networking applications is most valuable. In this position, the successful candidate will work with an experienced team to convert ideas into products and bring them to the market. This role provides the opportunity to create real impact within the organization and help to define the roadmap for the entire business.

Job Location:

The Vishay IC Design Team, located in Assago, Northern Italy.

What you will be doing:

  • Technical lead in testing and evaluation board HW design, in particular:
    • Responsible for HW design evaluation board and system board design and implementations, from schematic creation to layout design guidelines and components selections (proficiency in most of the major CAD design tools is required).
    • Create schematics for evaluation boards with different scopes and validation goals, designed to operate in different modes and platforms (e.g. FPGA systems, stand-alone, etc.)
    • Perform evaluation board bring-up, troubleshooting, and modifications.
  • Support design and applications teams from concept phase through production, including:
    • Translate and map IC specifications and features into corresponding HW design requirements.
    • Model PCB parameters through parasitic extractions to be used in system-level simulations.
    • Create interface/adapter boards, and or communication dongles as needed
  • Support customer schematic and PCB design using Vishay IC:
    • Provide guidance on schematic design, component placement, proper routing practices, etc.
    • Review customer schematic and PCB designs, and provide feedback.
    • Assist with troubleshooting customer design issues related to schematic or PCB design.
  • Perform bench validations on prototypes to ensure that they meet applications specifications. Report all performance results to internal engineering teams and support them to identify vehicles for future improvements.
  • Write and publish application notes and write papers related to PCB hardware design practices.
  • Assist with system-level validations on key programs.

What you will bring along:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ year experience in large PCB or hardware design. Experience in high-current multiphase power supply PCB layout is highly desired.
  • Strong experience in PCB CAD tool such as Cadence Allegro, Altium, etc.
  • Strong background in one or more of the following:
    • Power electronics (DC‑DC, multiphase, VRMs, POLs)
    • High‑speed digital or mixed‑signal systems.
    • Control systems and loop stability.
  • Experience and knowledge of power conversion products and topologies (buck, buck-boost, boost, PMIC, VR…)
  • Ability to diagnose and explain complex technical issues clearly.
  • Experience in successfully validate prototypes and bring them to production.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
