Job Description

Position Summary

Are you a strategic leader passionate about driving organizational success through innovative HR practices? We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resource Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) to join our team, focusing on our BC region.

In this role, you will establish strategic partnerships across leadership levels to develop and execute cross-functional strategies that align with our business vision. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will lead a team of HR professionals to implement HR initiatives and drive organizational objectives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively identify and implement emerging organizational programs, processes, and innovative HR concepts.
  • Mentor and lead a team of HR professionals, overseeing HR operations within the BC region.
  • Design and lead regional initiatives, utilizing HR metrics and data insights to inform strategy and measure impact.
  • Provide resolutions to complex issues through thorough, objective investigations.
  • Lead complex labour relations, including grievance meetings, arbitrations, and collective agreement negotiations.
  • Partner with employee groups and union representatives to foster excellent relations.
  • Collaborate closely with regional and functional management to provide guidance on policy, performance management, and coaching.
  • Actively collaborate with relevant parties throughout M&A activities.
  • Develop, assess, and provide fiscal justification for programs related to staffing, turnover, compensation, and productivity in conjunction with shared services.
  • Perform additional duties and support as required.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in progressive human resources roles, with proven experience managing a team of HR professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience working in large, complex, multi-stakeholder, and unionized environments.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources and a CPHR/SHRM designation (or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of current Human Rights and Employment Standards.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and HRIS systems (My Workday preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to write professional documentation, including policies, business cases, and labour briefings.
  • Ability to travel to various sites (30-40% of the time).

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of Labour Relations and Employment Standards, with demonstrated experience managing grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining agreements within a unionized environment.
  • Strong strategic and business acumen, with the ability to leverage HR metrics, data insights, and financial justifications to align HR initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Proven team leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to guide, develop, and oversee a team of HR professionals across regional operations.
  • Exceptional conflict resolution and investigation skills, with the ability to conduct thorough, objective workplace investigations and resolve complex HR issues.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to compose professional documentation, business cases, policy updates, and labor briefings for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building and coaching abilities, fostering positive, collaborative partnerships with leadership, employee groups, and union representatives.
  • High degree of autonomy and decision-making capability to design and execute regional initiatives independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
