Job Description

We are a successful civil contracting business who has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

Be part of the Eastern Freeway – Hoddle to Burke Alliance and help deliver one of Melbourne’s most exciting transport upgrades. We’re transforming the Eastern Freeway with major works that will make travel smoother, safer, and more connected across the east. From significant engineering milestones to community-focused design, this is a project where your contribution will make a real impact.

We are seeking an experienced Senior HSEQ Manager to lead and embed a strong safety culture on the Eastern Freeway – Hoddle to Burke Alliance project. You will provide strategic and visible leadership, drive compliance with all HS&W legislation and standards, manage high-risk activities, and oversee incident management, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on role where you’ll influence safety behaviours, mentor teams, work closely with subcontractors and stakeholders, and ensure everyone goes home safe.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Lead and embed a strong safety culture across the project, ensuring compliance with all HS&W legislation and standards.
  • Oversee and manage high-risk activities, incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement through audits, monitoring, trend analysis, and lessons learned.
  • Provide strategic advice and visible leadership to project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement training, inductions, and wellbeing initiatives to ensure all personnel go home safe.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent; Safety Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • Workplace Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator Certification; Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.
  • Recognised lead auditor training or demonstrated experience; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current C-Class Driver’s Licence.

We have a range of additional benefits available for our employees:

  • Health & Wellbeing – discounted health insurance, seasonal vaccinations, wellness discounts, fertility benefit and employee assistance program (EAP).
  • Time for life / Work life balance – birthday leave, purchased leave program, paid parental leave and flexible work arrangements.
  • Financial wellbeing – competitive remuneration, bonus programs, salary continuance insurance and employee share program.
  • Career development – training, mentoring programs, and leadership development program.

Many of our projects are located in regional areas, therefore all applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence and have their own transport.

Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans.
