Job Objective:
Ensure and improve plant HSE performance by:
- Provide support and technical experience in tasks related to achievement with the company's internal regulations and standards.
- Support the end of HSE initiatives to achieve the plant and company vision.
- Provide technical experience in existing and new plant processes, project implementation, focused on the aspects derived from HSE to be considered, working collaboratively with the production manager, production engineer and/or project leader.
- Communication aligned with the vision of the HSE Manager and the plant.
- Visibility and presence in the field, acting as a focal point for the operational management of HSE on a day-to-day basis.
- Support the HSE department in driving towards a zero incident culture.
Essential functions
Work independently for most of the tasks described in the following non-exhaustive list, following the instructions provided by the HSE manager.
- Participation in the creation of the Blueprint of the plant as a member of the Tactical Team.
- Participate in HSE SCIP for the site
- Coordination and development of assigned Blueprint and SCIP activities (site and departmental) and HSE support to other initiatives.
- Supports the HSE Manager in identifying relevant HSE regulatory and corporate requirements, as well as defining HSE programs to ensure compliance with the company's internal requirements and standards.
- Provides support to the HSE manager in identifying and delivering HSE -related training needs.
- Supports maintenance and improvements in management systems (such as ISO14000, ISO 45001).
- Use of CI tools to ensure adequate controls in the plant, to provide clarity and transparency in the management of HSE aspects.
- Support to the HSE Manager to ensure that procedures are defined, known to all on-site associates, kept up to date and reviewed regularly.
- Foster HSE culture at all levels through coaching and leading by example.
- Supervision of the behaviors and adherence of internal and external personnel to the HSE requirements of the plant, correcting behaviors and notifying them to the HSE Manager.
- It acts as a focal point for EHS concerns, gathering and contrasting information and managing its resolution by proposing improvements to prevent incidents.
- Identifies hazards and conducts risk assessments of specific activities to establish countermeasures.
- Leads incident investigations with multidisciplinary teams for the identification of root causes and preventive actions.
- Development of internal HSE inspections and field support of legal reviews assigned to the department.
- Provides and manages HSE inductions to contractors and visitors.
- Support to projects, programs (e.g. MI), processes (e.g. MOC, daily meetings) in their design and execution phases.
- Supports PSM initiatives (e.g. PHA analysis, Compliance calendar)
- Manages and leads CAE meetings and activities in turnarounds
- Substitute for the HSE Manager in the functions when HSE manager is not available, coordinated by the Plant Leader.
- Support to the HSE Manager, HSE department and the plant in general in all tasks necessary to achieve departmental, plant and corporate objectives.
- Member of the on-call rotation team.
Knowledge, education, skills and qualifications
- Chemist or Chemical Engineer (Preferred)
- Master's degree (or equivalent) with specialized HSE topics in postdoctoral practice.
- Experience/knowledge of environmental and safety management systems (such as ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001)
- Experience: At least 7-10 years in the industry. Languages: Writes, speaks and understands English and Spanish fluently.
