A Day in the Life

We are pleased to announce an internal opportunity for an accomplished HR leader to join the EurAsia HR team as Senior Director HR, Africa, Central & Eastern Europe (ACEE).

This is a pivotal regional leadership role with accountability for shaping and delivering the people strategy across a diverse, complex, and high-potential region. As a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, you will enable growth, strengthen organizational effectiveness, build leadership capability, and foster a high-performing, inclusive culture.

Reporting to the VP HR, Commercial Enablement, ACEE and TURMECA, you will partner closely with the Regional VP, ACEE and the ACEE regional leadership team to align people strategyto business priorities, strengthen organizational capability, and support the continued evolution of the region

The Senior Director HR, ACEE, leads the regional HR strategy in support of business objectives across a complex, geographically dispersed, and commercially significant market. The role provides strategic HR leadership to ensure the region has the talent, leadership, culture, and organizational capability required to deliver sustainable performance.

The ACEE region generates approximately $1.1 billion in annual revenue and comprises approximately 1,600 employees across 34 countries, predominantly operating through distributor markets.

You will lead a team of HR Business Partners and work in close partnership with CoEs, HR Operations, and AskHR within the Medtronic HR Operating Model.

This role requires the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership & Business Enablement

· Develop and deliver the regional people strategy aligned to business priorities, growth ambitions, and organizational capability needs across ACEE.

· Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Regional VP and leadership team, shaping decisions on organization design, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, succession, and talent risk.

· Translate business strategy, market dynamics, and external trends into practical people priorities that enable performance, agility, and long-term growth.

· Build strong partnerships across regional and global stakeholders to influence outcomes, drive alignment, and strengthen organizational performance.

Organizational Effectiveness & Transformation

· Lead organization design, restructuring, and change initiatives that support business transformation, operating model shifts, and evolving go-to-market strategies.

· Provide executive counsel on complex organizational matters, balancing business priorities, employee impact, risk, and long-term sustainability.

· Drive disciplined change approaches that accelerate adoption, strengthen engagement, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

· Foster continuous improvement, innovation, and cross-market sharing of best practices to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Talent & Leadership

· Lead integrated talent strategies to attract, develop, engage, and retain critical talent, ensuring the region has the leadership and capability required to deliver its priorities.

· Build leadership capability and succession pipelines in partnership with leaders, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Management to strengthen bench strength and future readiness.

· Coach senior leaders on performance, team effectiveness, talent decisions, and leadership impact.

· Lead, mentor, and develop the ACEE HR team, building a high-performing and collaborative function.

Culture, Inclusion & Employee Experience

· Champion an inclusive, high-performing culture where employees can thrive, and Medtronic’s Mission and values are reflected in leadership behaviours and people practices.

· Partner with leaders to strengthen employee engagement, organizational health, and team effectiveness across a culturally and geographically diverse region.

· Provide oversight and guidance on complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and values-based outcomes while managing organizational risk appropriately.

· Maintain a strong focus on employee wellbeing, safety, and the overall employee experience across all markets.

Data & Operational Excellence

· Leverage people analytics, workforce insights, and external market data to inform decisions, assess impact, and shape forward-looking talent and organization strategies.

· Ensure effective governance of HR budgets, resources, and programs, with disciplined oversight of priorities, investments, and outcomes.

· Ensure compliance with local labour laws, company policies, and governance standards across multiple countries and market models.

· Drive operational excellence and consistency in HR service delivery through a strong partnership with HR Operations, AskHR, and CoEs

· Partner with Talent Acquisition and relevant CoEs to strengthen employer brand, talent attraction, and Medtronic’s reputation as an employer of choice in the region.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 15 years of relevant HR experience, including 10+ years in leadership roles; or an advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience, including 10+ years in leadership roles.

· Significant experience partnering with senior business leaders in complex, multinational, matrixed organizations.

· Broad HR leadership experience across business partnering, organization design, talent management, leadership development, employee relations, and change leadership.

· Demonstrated experience leading across multiple countries, markets, or business units, with the ability to navigate cultural and organizational complexity.

· Strong knowledge of HR governance, compliance, and risk management in a multi-country environment.

You are a commercially minded, strategic HR leader with a strong track record of partnering with senior business leaders to shape people strategy, strengthen organizational performance, and lead transformation across complex and diverse markets

· A strong track record of shaping and delivering HR strategies that enable business growth, organizational transformation, and leadership effectiveness.

· Strong business acumen and commercial orientation, with the ability to translate business priorities, market dynamics, and external trends into practical people strategies.

· Credibility and confidence to influence, challenge, and coach senior leaders while building trusted relationships across a matrixed organization.

· Experience leading organization design, change, and transformation initiatives in environments of ambiguity, scale, and complexity.

· A strong ability to assess organizational capability, identify talent risks, and build strategies that strengthen succession, leadership pipelines, and workforce capability.

· Strong leadership presence with a track record of leading, coaching, and developing high-performing HR teams.

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures, geographies, and leadership levels.

· Demonstrated judgement and confidence in navigating complex employee relations issues, organizational risk, and governance requirements.

· A commitment to fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture where employees and leaders can thrive.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data, insight, and sound judgement to inform decisions and prioritize action.

· Regional market experience and additional language capability would be advantageous.
