Senior HR Business Partner, Portfolio Team

United Kingdom (Remote) | Full time or Part time (minimum 30 hours per week)

The Opportunity

Want to design and run an HR function exactly as you think it should work?

In this newly created role, you will own HR for our Portfolio Team, partnering with leaders across the full employee lifecycle. Your days will mix strategic work – designing and rolling out an EVP – with the hands-on side: recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, terminations, and everything in between.

And you’ll do it for an unusual population: the ~45 people who help our whole portfolio of software companies run successfully, including our Portfolio Executive Team. The team is fully remote and is spread mainly across the UK, US and Canada.

Our Portfolio (and therefore our Portfolio Team) sits inside Volaris Group, part of Constellation Software Inc. (TSX: CSU) – a decentralised, entrepreneurial global software business. Big platform, small-team feel: that’s what makes the role unique.

Our culture puts people at the centre: we give people what matters to them, we trust their judgement, and we invest in them. High challenge, high support – and accelerated development as a result.

This is a stand alone HR role however you will benefit from the company of senior HR professionals within the Portfolio team population as well as an extensive global Volaris HR network also.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be a one-person HR team - building before maintaining. From hire to exit, you own how each part of the lifecycle should work – and that means designing it and then doing it. Strategic and hands-on work, side by side. Real variety, not a narrow lane.

  • Supporting employees and partnering with management – shaping people decisions as well as executing them
  • Owning talent, succession, and development thinking for the population
  • Shaping engagement, culture, and our employer value proposition – built around what matters to our people, prioritising personalisation over one-size-fits-all
  • Leading recruitment, selection and onboarding for new Portfolio Team members – a real experience, not a standard process
  • Using AI to sharpen the employee experience and spot efficiency or automation opportunities
  • Leading on compensation and reward, from benchmarking to creative recognition
  • Partnering with suppliers (e.g. benefits brokers) to agree commercials, contracts, and roll out enhancements or training that improve the employee experience
  • Being the trusted advisor on sensitive people issues, ensuring risk is minimised
  • Making sure people leave as well as they arrive, so they leave as advocates
  • Getting the foundations right – light-touch policies, payroll and benefits administration, legal entity structure, and high-quality people data management using our core HR systems – and becoming the go-to expert on all of it

What Success Looks Like

The ambition is simple: the Portfolio should set the standard for what a great place to work looks like:

  • High talent density – the right people, doing work that matters
  • High engagement that keeps climbing, not just a score we measure
  • High retention – our best people stay, and bring more great people to us

Who This Role Suits

  • 5+ years’ experience at HRBP / senior HRBP / HR Manager level, including direct experience working with C-suite stakeholders
  • Experience of working both strategically and operationally
  • Comfortable working with data, data analysis and sharing insights with audiences from employee to C-suite
  • Personally led sensitive or complex ER cases start to finish, without close oversight
  • Highly commercial, comfortable with discretion, and credible in front of senior executives
  • Experience of working with UK-based and North American employee populations
  • Workday experience and software industry experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Right to work in the UK – we’re not able to sponsor for this role

What We Offer

  • Flexibility – Fully remote within the UK, full time or part time - flexible 4- or 5-day working pattern (minimum 30 hours per week)
  • Compensation – Excellent base salary plus a 10–15% bonus (pro-rata if part time)
  • Benefits – Private Medical Insurance, Health Cash Plan, Enhanced Pension, Life Assurance, and 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Real career development, mobility and access to a network of HR professionals across a global software group
