What you’ll do

You will drive the long-term success of our HIL platform models by developing efficient, scalable, and sustainable solutions that integrate seamlessly with our automated testing platform. A key part of your work will be ensuring the continued evolution of the platform as underlying vendor software changes and existing models are replaced.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and maintain real-time simulation models using OPAL-RT platform.
• Develop electrical system models for UPS, battery, power conversion, and grid-interaction applications.
• Model IGBT, MOSFET, and other power semiconductor switching characteristics.
• Optimize simulation performance, accuracy, and real-time execution.
• Design, build, and maintain HIL setups, cabinets, and test benches.
• Develop HIL drawers, interface boards, signal conditioning circuits, and custom electronics.
• Configure and maintain analog and digital communication interfaces.
• Develop fixtures and peripherals required to emulate field devices, sensors, communication networks, and power systems.
• Integrate HIL systems with target controllers, laboratory equipment, and measurement instruments.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and test infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot hardware, communication, simulation, and integration issues.
• Define and maintain common HIL architecture, standards, and reusable components.
• Drive continuous improvement of HIL platforms, tools, and laboratory infrastructure.
• Evaluate and introduce new HIL technologies and development methods.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, systems, and test engineering teams to support product development.

• Availability and reliability of HIL platforms and other HW infrastructure supporting FW testing.
• Accuracy and performance of real-time simulation models.
• Development and maintenance of HIL drawers, interface electronics, fixtures, and peripherals.
• Standardization and continuous improvement of HIL environments.
• Safe operation and upkeep of HIL laboratories and equipment.

What helps you succeed in this role

To be successful in this role, you bring experience in several of the following areas:

• Power electronics and UPS systems.
• OPAL-RT HIL platforms.
• Analog and digital electronics design.
• Real-time simulation and system modeling.
• Embedded systems and control systems.
• CAN, CAN FD, Ethernet, Modbus, and industrial communications.
• Python, MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, or equivalent engineering tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Controls Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience working with HIL systems and a solid understanding of power electronics

Skills

• Experience with engineering tools such as Python, Robot Framework, C/C++, MATLAB, and PLECS.
• Experience translating system and testing needs into clear technical requirements and specifications.
• A cross-functional mindset with the ability to understand and connect perspectives from different engineering disciplines.
• The ability to organize, prioritize, and drive work independently.
• A proactive, can-do attitude and a willingness to take initiative.
