Job Description

Hargrove is currently hiring an Electrical Engineer to join our expanding team. We're looking for a licensed PE with experience in high-voltage systems.

Responsibilities:

•  Physical design of electrical substations utilizing applicable codes and client standards to include:
o  General Arrangement
o  Equipment Layout
o  Electrical Layout
o  Control Building Layout
o  Elevation Views
o  Cable Trench
o  Equipment Grounding
o  Lightning Protection
o  Ground Grid
o  Conduit and Cable Tray Drawings
o  Bills of Materials
o  AC and DC Power Systems
o  Area Lighting
•  Ability to perform the following calculations, studies, and analysis
o  Touch and step voltages
o  Substation Grounding calculations
o  Pre and post energization harmonic studies
o  Short circuit studies
o  Calculate mechanical forces on bus bars due to fault currents
o  Load flow, reactive power flow
o  Harmonic filter analysis
o  NERC compliance analysis
o  Protective relay coordination
o  Transient analysis
o  Slack-Span calculations for transmission line spans.
o  Corona performance studies
•  Develop equipment specifications for outdoor electrical switchyard equipment with operating voltages up to 345 KV
•  Review and integrate vendor drawings
•  Manage vendors to ensure all deliverables (drawings, materials, equipment) is delivered in a timely and quality manner per the agreed upon schedule
•  Create equipment and material specifications for procurement of engineered equipment with operating voltages up to 345kV as well as development of design scope and estimates to include but not limited to:
o  Vacuum and SF6 Circuit breakers
o  Motor operated switches
o  Gang operated manual switches
o  Potential transformers and Current Transformers
o  Station service transformers
o  Insulators
o  Surge arrestors
o  Station service batteries
•  Complete conceptual design for planning purposes
•  Prepare additional support documentation as required to assist procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance activities
•  Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect and deliver design and engineering data
•  Follow Hargrove QA/QC program to ensure all processes are being followed on all design packages
•  Mentor less experienced engineers and designers in substation design

Qualifications:

•  Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
•  10 years of experience in substation physical design
•  PE license required
•  Add software they should have working knowledge for Hargrove
•  Excellent document management and organization skills
•  Strong attention to detail
•  Ability to multi-task working on a variety of projects and deadlines
•  Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
