
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters and Flood Resilience (HW&FR) department has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Healthy Waters Specialist within the Wai Ora Urban Partnerships team.
This role has a strong flood resilience focus and will play a key role in delivering and potentially leading the Community Flood Resilience Programme, while also supporting related local board initiatives.
You will work alongside communities, local boards, and internal teams to strengthen flood preparedness, improve catchment resilience, and support community-led adaptation responses. This role blends programme leadership, community engagement, and project delivery.
As part of this role, you will build trusted relationships, guide strategic direction, and ensure flood resilience initiatives are delivered effectively and collaboratively.

You will bring strong programme or project leadership experience, with a passion for working alongside communities to build practical flood resilience outcomes, while at the same time having understanding of freshwater ecosystems, environmental pressures, urban communities and water quality outcomes.
