About the Role

As Senior Health & Wellbeing Advisor, you will develop, implement and manage health and wellbeing programs that enhance the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of our employees. This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, with nationwide travel required.

Acting as a trusted advisor, you will help ensure a proactive approach to health and wellbeing initiatives, fulfil compliance requirements, and foster a culture of care. You will provide guidance and support to key stakeholders, helping integrate wellbeing strategies into broader organisational objectives.

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate health and wellbeing programs tailored to the needs of employees and aligned with John Holland’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with project teams, HR, and HSEQ functions to embed wellbeing into business processes and initiatives.
  • Provide expert advice to leaders and employees on matters related to mental health, physical health, and workplace wellbeing.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory health and safety obligations, including mental health and psychosocial risk management.
  • Identify trends, conduct gap analyses, and deliver solutions to address emerging health and wellbeing challenges across John Holland’s operations.
  • Develop and deliver training, workshops, and campaigns to promote awareness and build capability in health and wellbeing.
  • Assist in the management of employee health assessments, return-to-work programs, and injury prevention initiatives in collaboration with HR, RTW Coordinators and relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex wellbeing matters, providing guidance and recommendations for resolution.
  • Monitor, maintain and progress psychosocial risk framework
  • Build and maintain relationships with external providers, such as Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), health promotion agencies, and industry bodies.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on health and wellbeing metrics, initiatives, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support organisational change initiatives by ensuring the health and wellbeing of employees are prioritized and risks are mitigated.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices, legislative changes, and industry trends in health and wellbeing to ensure John Holland remains a leader in this area.

What we are looking for

You have substantial experience in health, wellbeing or HSE roles within a construction or other high-risk environment, and a strong understanding of workplace safety, mental health and psychosocial risk frameworks.

Requirements for this role include:

  • Experience designing and delivering wellbeing programs and initiatives
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety, mental health and psychosocial risk frameworks
  • Proven experience facilitating workshops, training sessions or group discussions
  • Certification in Mental Health First Aid or similar
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of a business

You will likely have an Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, together with qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Psychology, Occupational Health, Health Promotion or a related discipline.

You are a collaborative professional who builds effective relationships and is comfortable partnering with diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders, to drive cultural change. Your ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment will see you succeed in this role.
