Job Description

Our client, a Tier 1 Main Contractor, is currently seeking a Senior Health & Safety Officer for a large residential project based in South Dublin The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining high standards of health and safety across the site, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures. This is a key role on a high-profile project, and the preferred candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry, along with strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all on-site health and safety activities, ensuring full compliance with statutory and company requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and procedures.
• Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety training to site personnel.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, producing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
• Liaise with project management and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture.
• Maintain accurate records of safety documentation, inspections, and training.
• Ensure all plant, equipment, and materials are used safely and in accordance with regulations.
• Support the continuous improvement of health and safety systems and practices across the project.

Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Proven ability to lead safety initiatives on large-scale construction projects.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Full eligibility to work in Ireland and availability for a South Dublin-based role.
