Job Description

We are looking for a Hardware Developer with experience in power electronics who is eager to expand their expertise, take on new challenges, and contribute to the growth of our international team.

Team and Product

At KOSTAL Electro Mobility (KEM), we develop advanced power electronics solutions for electromobility, including on-board chargers (OBCs) and HV/LV DC/DC converters.

You will work closely with colleagues in Germany and across other KOSTAL locations. Our Prague R&D centre is where the complete product is developed, with hardware, software, design and other specialist teams working together throughout the development process.

  • Contribute to hardware development throughout the entire product development cycle, from calculations and analyses to schematic design, PCB design collaboration, prototype development and testing.
  • Work in a modern, well-equipped laboratory featuring a dedicated workstation for evaluating MOSFET behaviour, including an 8-channel oscilloscope, optically isolated probes with very high CMRR and specialised shunts.
  • Use our EMC workstation and climatic chamber to support comprehensive testing and validation.
  • Help make hardware development more efficient by introducing automation and modern tools, including Python and AI-based solutions.
  • At senior level, contribute to research-oriented topics such as magnetics, EMC and converter optimisation using selected topologies, often in cooperation with industrial partners.

What We Would Also Value

  • Experience in the automotive industry or a similar environment, including familiarity with relevant standards and development processes such as ISO 26262.
  • Programming experience focused on developing tools for hardware development, ideally using Python.

Qualifications

What You Bring

  • At least 2 years of experience in power electronics hardware development, ideally with 3–7 years of relevant experience.
  • A genuine passion for engineering, a willingness to learn, and the ambition to develop into a highly skilled hardware specialist.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to see the bigger picture while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • A university degree in electronics, electrical engineering or a related field, together with a solid theoretical understanding of electronics and relevant physics.
  • The professional competence required to work independently on electrical equipment in accordance with Government Regulation No. 194/2022, or the willingness and necessary prerequisites to obtain this qualification.
  • Good working knowledge of Czech and English.

It Would Also Be an Advantage

  • Experience in the automotive industry or a similar environment, including familiarity with relevant standards and development processes such as ISO 26262.
  • Programming experience in developing tools to support hardware development, ideally using Python.

  • A modern laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, located directly within our office building and in operation since 2024.
  • The opportunity to contribute to innovation in one of the fastest-developing areas of the automotive industry.
  • The opportunity to use AI, in-house AI tools and Python to streamline and modernise hardware development.

Benefits
