Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The Global Demand Planner is responsible for leading forecasting and demand planning activities for assigned product lines, ensuring accurate short- and long-term demand plans. This role partners closely with Commercial, Product Line Management, and Operations teams to develop forecast models, drive monthly consensus planning, and improve forecast accuracy, processes, and overall supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop short-term and long-term demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation to support operational and strategic planning.
  • Analyze historical sales trends, demand drivers, and forecast data to build, maintain, and evaluate statistical forecast models.
  • Partner with commercial and product line management teams to gather current business intelligence and ensure accurate forecast assumptions.
  • Lead cross-functional discussions to reconcile forecast variances and refine demand plans based on updated inputs and market conditions.
  • Maintain the Demand Planning system as the baseline forecasting tool and ensure forecast data integrity.
  • Coordinate demand plan changes closely with supply chain and operations teams to support effective execution.
  • Prepare demand planning reports, track key forecast metrics such as wMAPE and FVA, and lead forecasting and demand planning enhancement projects.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management or similar discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of supply chain experience, with a minimum of 2 years of forecasting experience
  • Very strong analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative) with ability to see the big picture as well as the individual details
  • Methodical and detail oriented – ability and willingness to dig through large amounts of data to find anomalies, outliers, and/or errors
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written)

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & Power BI
  • Experience with demand planning systems
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems or planning software applications
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities
  • Able to work in a team environment

The range for this position is $88,381.00 - $121,524.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
