Job Purpose

Provide technical support and expertise in geology to support Exploration and Resource Development (ERD) operation. Work closely with geologists, engineers, and other technical professionals to ensure the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of exploration operations. Contribute to meeting corporate Strategy 2040 focusing on areas with highest geological potential.

The role is responsible for the direct supervision of field teams executing exploration and geotechnical drilling programs, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to best practices. It involves training geoscientists and field personnel in drill program management, geological and geotechnical logging, and data management processes, including regular quality control checks. The position also oversees the compilation and reporting of drill program metrics and results to relevant stakeholders within the Execution and Geoscience groups. A key focus is on driving continuous improvement by implementing workflow enhancements that boost productivity, data quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Additionally, the role includes updating procedural documentation and collaborating with the broader Geoscience community across Maaden to promote and share professional standards and best practices.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Promote a “Safety First” culture in exploration operations team and implement the Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) management system to ensure team members fulfill standard EHSS processes and operating procedures
  1. Conduct comprehensive geological assessments and surveys to define advanced exploration targets and prioritize areas for further investigation.
  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geophysicists, geochemists, and engineers, to optimize exploration strategies and integrate multi-disciplinary data.
  1. Collect, analyze, and interpret geological data from various sources, including drill core samples, geophysical data, and remote sensing imagery. Apply advanced geological techniques and software tools to identify mineralization patterns, structural controls, and potential deposit extensions.
  1. Prepare accurate and comprehensive technical reports, including exploration progress reports, geological interpretations, and annual reports. Communicate exploration findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and management.
  1. Stay up to date with industry developments and technological advancements related to geology and recommend implementation of new technologies or practices as appropriate.
    • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant Geoscience discipline from an accredited institution.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in target generation, grassroots exploration, and/or project execution.
  • A solid understanding of the mineral discovery process and its associated challenges.
  • Practical experience with the geological characteristics of Cu, Ni, Zn, Li, Ag, Au, and REE systems.
  • Hands-on exploration experience in Porphyry Cu-Au and/or VHMS, and/or Magmatic Ni-Cu systems.
  • Proven ability to train geoscientists and field personnel in drill program execution, including geological and geotechnical logging of chips and core.
  • Experience in data management practices, including conducting regular quality control checks.
  • Capability to compile and report drill program metrics to stakeholders across Exploration & Geoscience teams.
  • A track record of implementing workflow improvements and initiatives that enhance productivity, data quality, operational safety, and efficiency in exploration and drilling activities.
  • Experience in updating and developing procedural documentation for program execution and data collection.
  • A collaborative approach to working with the broader Geoscience community within Maaden, ensuring the application and sharing of professional best practices and standards.

Minimum Experience:

  • >7 years of relevant experience in mining and minerals industry – preferably in exploration
  • Familiarity with KSA mining, minerals, and exploration sector (optional)

Skills:

  • Knowledge of JORC and N143-401 standards for mineral sampling
  • Broad experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)
  • Exceptional technical skills across geosciences & deep expertise in explorational analyses
  • Knowledge of industry-standard software and tools for geological modeling and other data and modelling tools
  • Knowledge and experience in the interpretation of geological structures, including mapping, logging, and sampling techniques
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate geological risks and opportunities.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Become safety advocate - anywhere and everywhere and foster safety culture across team members
  • Extensive hands-on GIS experience (Preferably Arcpro)
  • Extensive 3D modelling experience (preferably Leapfrog)
  • Demonstrated excellent technical written, verbal, and presentation communication skills in English.
