DEPARTMENT: SHAFTS

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To find evaluate and Optimise extraction of the orebody in the impala Operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc Honours Degree in Geology is essential.
• MSc Degree in Geology is desirable.
• Membership in GSSA is essential.
• Membership in SAIMM is desirable.
• Registration as Professional Scientist with SA Council for Natural Scientific Professionals.
• Minimum 3 years mining geology experience

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of geological mapping/surveys.
• Knowledge of geological resources plans.
• Knowledge of electronic data capture software.
• Bushveld geology knowledge.
• Knowledge of seismic principles.
• Knowledge of GIS systems.
• Knowledge of drilling techniques.
• Knowledge and working experience in Geological modelling software packages.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Scientifically identifies, defines and delineates the ore body.
• Ensures effective geological modelling is maintained, inclusive of forecast updates.
• Produce a geology Structure Model for shaft
• Declares Mineral resources for the shaft
• Provides professional advice and integrated communication to production & other mining disciplines for present and future mining
• Facilities integrated participation in the planning and geological exploration of new mining areas.
• Constantly monitors geological conditions to ensure efficient, economical and progressive mining.
• Guides and manages the geological functions of an operating unit, inclusive of managing contractors.
• Compiles standardized geological reports for management information purposes
• Effectively manages diamond drilling operations and oversees underground sampling (Drillholes and cut Sample sections)
• Electronically captures and updates of all geological data in the relevant software systems such as SABLE.
• Ensures QAQC of Drillholes.
• Identifies and recommended initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scoop and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of the operational objectives.
• Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation
• Builds, Supports and Maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions where required.
• Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved
• Conduct safety over inspection of diamond drill contractors
