Job Purpose:

Manages geological work around the process of acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting geological data to provide accurate and customized services to clients. Provides geological advice in multiple specialized technical disciplines and develops solutions for clients by putting acquired geological data into context.

Collaborates closely with colleagues in the Engineering team, Project team, Operations team, and Laboratory team in-country and regionally to ensure support is provided where needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Preparation:

  • Review project requirements and implement appropriate methodologies and techniques.
  • Assist in technical reviews during the proposal and planning stages.
  • Prepare method statements and quality plans for field investigations.
  • Develop and maintain tracking sheets for effective project monitoring and team coordination.

Project Execution:

  • Act as the Lead Geologist onsite for large-scale or high-profile projects, as required.
  • Ensure the technical quality of fieldwork completed for assigned project tasks.
  • Plan, monitor, and prioritize workloads across engineering, operations, laboratory, commercial, and consulting teams to meet project timelines.
  • Coordinate with site teams to collect and validate data from ground investigation activities.

Field Testing:

  • Review and approve in-situ testing results and borehole logs prior to client submission.
  • Guide engineering team members in interpreting test results and preparing technical reports.

Mentoring:

  • Monitoring and mentoring the field geologists.

Geology / Engineering:

  • Evaluate site geological conditions to determine engineering soil and rock parameters.
  • Identify and assess geohazards while forming conclusions and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams on technical deliverables.

Reporting:

  • Prepare reports and laboratory programs, and obtain client approvals in coordination with senior stakeholders (Principal/Senior Engineering Geologist/Project Engineer).
  • Develop foundation soil parameters, perform design assessments and engineering analyses, and prepare final reports for approval.
  • Review and validate reports and analyses prepared by team members.

Client Delivery:

  • Deliver services in line with established standards, client requirements, and contract specifications.
  • Ensure accurate data management across site, laboratory, and office functions, maintaining strong QA/QC compliance.

Project Management:

  • Act as Product Manager for selected small to mid-sized projects, including coordination with cross-functional teams, client interactions, progress tracking, and invoicing.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Department on contractual and commercial matters.

Resource Management:

  • Maintain and update reference materials and knowledge repositories for team learning and development.
  • Stay updated on industry technologies, standards, and best practices.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 12–15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • MSc Geology OR M. Tech in Geology or PhD in Geology is mandatory.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and demonstrate confidence in execution.
  • Strong communicator. Promotes open communication across the organization. Empowers & connects other people with positive impact, provides energy and demonstrates passion, trust & respect.

HSE Responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring the safety of self and others at the site. Prevent damage to equipment and assets. Responsible for following all safety signs/procedures/ safe working practices. Responsible for using appropriate PPE’s Responsible for participating in mock drills. Entitled to refuse to undertake any activity considered unsafe. Responsible for filling up of hazard observation card, wherever a hazard has been noticed at site. Responsible for safe housekeeping of his workplace. To stop any operation that is deemed unsafe. To be able to operate a fire extinguisher in case of fire. To report an incident as soon as possible to the immediate supervisor and the HSE manager. To complete HSE training as instructed to do so.
