Job Description

The Senior Generalist Asset Artist is responsible for delivering complex 3D assets across characters, props, and environments, while guiding and mentoring less experienced artists. This role requires advanced skills in modeling, texturing, and lookdev, along with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Requirements

Duties:

  • Asset Creation: Deliver high-end assets across asset types with minimal supervision
    Technical Oversight: Ensure assets meet pipeline and render efficiency requirements
  • Mentorship: Provide feedback and support to junior and mid-level artists
  • Leading:Lead by example through the delivery of consistent, production-ready assets
  • Team development: Support the development of a strong, collaborative asset team
  • Workflow Improvement: Help test or improve asset tools, templates, and methods. Identify and solve common workflow bottlenecks
  • Collaboration: Liaise with lookdev, rigging, lighting, and comp to resolve asset-related issues
  • Scene Organisation: Maintain exemplary scene hygiene and encourage the same in others
  • Documentation: Contribute to internal documentation and tutorials where applicable
  • Feedback Loop: Iterate on notes quickly while offering suggestions that elevate quality

Skills, attributes and experience:

  • Expert in Maya, ZBrush, Mari, Substance Painter, and render engines
  • Experience working with USD pipelines
  • Maya, Houdini, Nuke experience is a must
  • Real-time engine exposure
  • Python/MEL scripting beneficial
  • 6–8 years in VFX or a related field
  • Strong artistic eye and technical understanding of asset creation
  • Excellent problem-solving and mentoring skills
  • Confidence in presenting work and taking ownership of asset quality
  • Excellent communicator, sharing information clearly and actively listening
  • Strong time management, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate delays in a timely manner
  • Adaptable to change with the ability to stay focused and maintain a positive attitude
  • Driven to make things better with flexibility to change course when needed
  • Positive energy, focusing on results and having a positive impact on those around you
  • Self awareness and an ability to resolve and diffuse problems treating others with kindness and respect
