Job Description

NexCore Group is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Senior Fund Accountant in our Denver, Colorado office. The role will support the Senior Director of Financial Reporting / Accounting Manager and will be responsible in leading the setting up processes of an investment fund. Once processes are created and implemented, daily tasks will include running the monthly close process, track deal and fund level waterfalls, coordination of capital call and distribution notices, update management fee workpapers, ensure accuracy of profit and loss allocation in accordance with the fund governing documents, work with AP team to process payments, coordinate with the deal team for updating fund NAV, assisting with annual audits and preparing the recurring financial reporting packages under U.S. GAAP and ILPA. This role will additionally ensure compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and accounting principles in adherence with U.S. GAAP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement accounting close processes to ensure complete and accurate records of the Company’s Real Estate Fund
  • Execute processes for the monthly close cycle to comply with company financial close calendar while ensuring high quality work product, free of errors or significant rework
  • Maintain responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting for the Company’s fund structure
  • Prepare capital call and distribution letters
  • Maintain responsibility for FloQast, to include full implementation and develop best in class policies surrounding the monthly financial close of the fund structure
  • Analyze investment documents and properly set up the accounting for investment structures including holding companies, AIV’s and blockers
  • Create and maintain workpapers to ensure the correct profit and loss allocation of the fund
  • Ensure financial reporting adheres to U.S. GAAP using technical accounting research when necessary
  • Prepare an internal quarterly financial binder including financial statements, significant transactions, and flux analysis
  • Provide support for external audits
  • Complete or review ad hoc projects as needed

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree - Accounting required
  • CPA or CFA - required
  • Advanced Degree – Accounting preferred

Experience

  • 3+ years public or private industry experience (practical fund and real estate accounting experience preferred)

Skills

  • Excellent grasp of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience and understanding of ILPA reporting standards
  • Fund Accounting experience required
  • Real Estate Accounting preferred
  • Experience with Yardi preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and delegation skills a must
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required

Benefits

  • Compensation: $80,000 - $120,000 / year
