Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer - This position is open only to candidates based in Latin America.

Our client is launching an AI Tutor for K-12 students and operating like a lean startup inside the company. Youll join a small, flat, high-agency team that owns the product end-to-end, from React/Next.js UI and Expo React Native mobile apps to TypeScript APIs on AWS. Your mandate is to ship quickly, focus on excellent quality and stellar user experience, measure everything, learn from real classroom feedback, and iterate. While most AI plumbing comes from our internal AI Services platform, you might occasionally dive into AI building blocks yourself (e.g., pick the right TTS provider or create digital avatars). If you love wearing multiple hats, driving decisions, and seeing your work improve how kids learn every week, this is for you.

Responsabilities

  • Full-stack feature delivery across web (Next.js) and mobile (Expo React Native) with shared TypeScript packages.
  • Design & build serverless APIs using Hono (TypeScript) on AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and edge functions.
  • Own AWS infrastructure as code (CDK/Terraform) for Aurora RDS, S3, CloudFront, EventBridge, Step Functions, etc.
  • Instrument, A/B-test, and analyze user flows; pivot quickly based on metrics and classroom feedback.
  • Integrate AI services (chat, TTS, embeddings) and prototype new AI features when they add learner value.
  • Champion code quality with automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and peer reviews.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and learning-science partners—turning fuzzy problems into shippable work.
  • Mentor peers on TypeScript patterns, cloud best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Continuously improve dev-experience (monorepo, pnpm, Turbo, Observability, OpenTelemetry).

Experience and Skills

  • 8+ years professional experience shipping production React/Next.js front-ends and Node/TypeScript back-ends.
  • Proven ownership of AWS-based systems
    (Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFront) and IaC with CDK or Terraform.
  • Deep understanding of TypeScript across client, server, and shared libraries.
  • Strong grasp of modern React (hooks, suspense, server components) and Tailwind + shadcn-ui.
  • Ability to design, document, and evolve REST/JSON APIs; familiarity with edge functions & streaming.
  • Habit of measuring what you build—analytics, logging, tracing, A/B tests—and iterating on the data.
  • Excellent written and asynchronous communication; comfortable in lightweight agile rituals.
  • Proactive communicator and takes initiative instead of waiting for instructions.
  • High Agency and can figure things out with minimal instructions/guidance.
  • English proficiency: B2 or higher

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Expo / React Native in production, or any serious mobile work.
  • Hands-on with LLMs, embeddings, TTS, or prompt engineering.
  • Experience in ed-tech or data-driven consumer products.
  • DevOps mindset (observability, on-call, cost optimization).
  • Built an AI agent (even if personal) or worked on AI Gen product.
  • Early stage startup experience.
