ABOUT THE ROLE

This role owns the interface for a data-heavy product: dense visualizations, live monitoring, large scientific datasets that have to stay legible on screen. You’ll take parts of it end to end, from framing the problem through shipping and the refinement that follows.

It’s early, so specs will be thin and they’ll shift. Filling those gaps is the job: turning complicated problems into something that feels obvious to use. When the frontend is right, the hardest, densest workflows feel effortless to the people who depend on them.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Build the interfaces for configuring, launching, monitoring, and analyzing scientific research workflows.
• Create interactive visualizations of 3D structures, simulation results, and other large, complex scientific datasets.
• Profile and optimize rendering performance and memory so data-dense views stay fast as datasets grow.
• Maintain a library of reusable, extensible frontend components with clean, well-documented interfaces so the UI stays consistent as the product grows.
• Partner with backend engineers on API contracts, data models, and how asynchronous work is handled.
• Work with research scientists and product stakeholders to turn their requirements into interfaces that surface real insight.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Experience shipping and maintaining production-grade web applications. This will typically mean 5+ years of professional experience as a frontend engineer, but the scope and quality of your work matter more than a specific number.
• Strong TypeScript and reactive framework fundamentals (React/Vue/Svelte/others), including component design patterns, state management, and testing.
• Experience building data-dense and interactive products, such as analytics platforms, scientific software, dev tools, workflow systems, or complex operational dashboards.
• Experience profiling performance and memory usage, with observability and maintainability as a priority.
• Strong product-driven mindset: you seek to understand the underlying problem and care deeply about usability.

NICE TO HAVE

• Three.js, D3, WebGL, Canvas, deck.gl, or other visualization and graphics technologies.
• Web Workers, WebAssembly, or other approaches for moving expensive computation away from the main browser thread.
• Handling real-time data streams (WebSockets, SSE) and optimizing UI updates for high-frequency data.
• Experience designing extensible or plugin-style frontend systems.
• Exposure to scientific computing, distributed systems, or workflow engines.

Singapore. Work model is on-site or hybrid.
