Job Description

Senior FP&A Analyst – Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Modeling

Houston, Texas | Hybrid (3 days on-site) | Full-Time | Direct Hire | Senior Level

MaxIT Consulting – Max Corporate Group is seeking a highly analytical and business-minded Senior FP&A Analyst to join the growing Finance team of a company in the energy sector, based in Houston, Texas.

This professional will serve as a key financial partner to operational and functional leaders across the organization, providing the financial insight that drives business performance and strategic decision-making. The role offers significant visibility across the organization and close, cross-functional work with leadership teams.

THE CHALLENGE

The company needs a finance professional who can turn complex financial data into clear business insight: leading the monthly variance analysis, owning the budget and forecast cycle, and building the models that support strategic initiatives, pricing and capital investment decisions.

You will partner with Operations, Accounting, Sales and Corporate Finance to identify risks, growth opportunities and cost-saving initiatives, and to keep financial results, forecasts and business objectives aligned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary FP&A business partner to operational and departmental leaders.
  • Lead monthly financial analysis, including actual-to-budget, actual-to-forecast and year-over-year variance reporting.
  • Prepare, coordinate and maintain annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and long-term financial plans.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models, forecasting tools and scenario analyses to support strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, profitability and working capital trends, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner with operations teams to identify business risks, growth opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Prepare and present monthly business reviews, KPI dashboards, executive presentations and management reporting packages.
  • Support pricing strategies, capital investment (CapEx) evaluations and business case development.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, planning methodologies and systems utilization.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and financial reporting requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits in line with SOX compliance standards.
  • Participate in special projects, strategic initiatives and ad hoc financial analyses.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive FP&A, Corporate Finance or Financial Analysis experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel: complex formulas and functions, pivot tables, financial modeling, forecasting and scenario analysis.
  • Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and management reporting.
  • Experience presenting financial results and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

NICE TO HAVE

  • MBA, CPA and/or CMA designation.
  • Experience with Oracle EPM, Oracle ERP or other enterprise planning and forecasting systems.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, industrial or multi-site operations.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance, internal controls and revenue recognition principles.
  • Strategic thinking, strong business acumen and the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.
