Job Description

The Senior Analyst is an experienced analyst position within Boyd Gaming’s Finance Center of Excellence FP&A team. The Senior Analyst brings subject matter expertise in specific categories of key focus which could include gaming (including both slots and table games), hospitality departments, or labor. The Senior Analyst partners with senior corporate and operations leadership with data driven insights and perspective with recommendations to improve operational performance across multiple departments. The Senior Analyst has knowledge of current internal and external trends and can manage large and disparate data to gain insights to provide opportunities to reduce inefficiencies and increase revenue. Provides insights that will result in actionable recommendations to support both short-term and long-term operations and planning needs. Partners with senior and operations leadership to evaluate new and innovative ways to differentiate Boyd Gaming and improve operating performance and guest satisfaction.

• Understands external industry, social and economic trends which could have an impact on operating performance.
• Investigates and recommends opportunities identified that can be implemented regionally or enterprise-wide. Measures performance of actual results with expectations.
• Provides insight and perspective on operating plan variances and root-cause analysis through specialized ad-hoc activities and requests related to specific category expertise.
• Regularly synthesizes large amounts of both internal and external data into actionable recommendations and presentations for management review.
• Ensures effective use of financial predictive modeling processes/business intelligence tools, statistical analytics, graphs, key performance indicators, industry benchmarks and report writing to support strategic and tactical decision making.
• Must possess the ability to collaborate and work closely with both internal teams and stakeholders from multiple properties and in relevant category operational disciplines.
• Mentors and coaches Analyst in FP&A for career growth as well as for succession planning. · Provides short-term/quick turnaround support for analysis requests at the direction of department leader.
• Reviews work of Analyst for quality and accuracy.
• Performs all functions with the highest level of integrity and in a professional manner.
• Observes and follows all safety procedures.
• Performs other job related duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from accredited university in Accounting, Business Management, Finance or quantitative degree in Information Data, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics.
• Knowledgeable in business intelligence and report writing tools such as Workday, Microsoft Connect, DeFacto, Power BI, Microstrategy and SQL as examples. Makes recommendations to the director for enhancements of the DataMart.
• Knowledge and experience with financial and related systems such as Workday, Snowflake, Lawson, Infinium, Micros, Kronos, LMS as examples.
• Three to five years of current and relevant experience working in gaming and hospitality, either in a property leadership or enterprise role.
• Ability to effectively work and communicate with all levels of management including senior executives and operating property leadership.
• Must possess in-depth analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills as well as the ability to master new concepts and industry trends quickly.
• Above average competency and skill in using Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
• Ability to effectively communicate findings in English, in both written and oral form. · Some travel may be required.
• Ability to successfully acquire any licensing approvals that may be needed.

Preferred:

• Advanced Degree in Business Management, Information Data, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics.
