Job Description

This position is the for the Senior FLIGHT DECK Leader at GE Aerospace's Additive Technology Center. Seeking an experienced lean practitioner who can lead lean in a development NPI environment, while developing strategy for the future outlook of facility. You will drive cultural transformation resulting in step-change in operational business metrics. You will work directly with the Site Leader and leadership staff in the development and implementation of lean strategies in identified areas. We are seeking a candidate that has great leadership and influencing skills, with a strong belief in Lean. This role will require many skills, such as project management, influencing, and creativity, while still maintaining GE corporate standards.

The Senior FLIGHT DECK Leader will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for the plant with a focus on cost-out and lean. You will integrate and develop improvement processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in both short and long-term planning, on time delivery to the customer and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drive a comprehensive FLIGHT DECK strategy for the ATC, with targeted focus on top areas of constraint that affects delivery or inventory and drives proactive resolution using problem solving techniques
  • Form strategy to integrate corporate/IPT goals & objectives into the ATC.
  • Assess bottlenecks and constraints of the Value Stream and form action plan to remove them.
  • Achieve cost/productivity/safety/quality/delivery (improvement) goals for the ATC
  • Lead process improvements and standardization using lean principles & Six Sigma
  • Support manufacturing facilities to industrialize additive manufacturing supply chain processes
  • Develop lean solutions and partner with other IPT leadership to implement and transition products to high volume production facilities
  • Lead Kaizen events from conception, planning, execution, and sustainment
  • Develop and administer training to ATC personnel
  • Mentor and coach other Lean Specialists & practitioners
  • Promote professional growth, inclusive and collaborative teaming with timely performance feedback and coaching
  • Leverage a continuous learning mindset by seeking best practices from the external and internal communities

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of relevant working experience)
  • An additional 5 years of relevant working experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Extensive Lean Manufacturing background within a plant and operational managerial experience from a production / manufacturing setting
  • Green Belt/Black Belt certification
  • Hands-on experience with implementing change projects
  • Aptitude to understand complex manufacturing processes, ideally TRL/MRL process experience
  • Experience with additive technology/manufacturing
  • Additional practical experience in Six Sigma and/or Digital environment
  • Ability to identify and drive sustainable process changes to optimize business outcomes
  • Established project management skills. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to train and motivate others. Demonstrated change leadership
