Job Description

Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment. We are currently hiring a Senior Fitter at our Southeast Houston manufacturing facility.

As a Senior Structural Fitter, you will be required to perform the following tasks: Job Requirements

Essential Responsibilities

• Read and interpret structural drawings and blueprints.
• Fit, layout, and assemble structural steel components including channels, I-beams, and plate.
• Cut, grind, and prepare steel using torches, band saws, porta bands, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
• Install and fit ¼” plate and other structural components to specifications.
• Safely operate forklifts, jib cranes, man lifts, and other material handling equipment.
• Perform accurate measurements and ensure work meets quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all company safety procedures.
• Participate in weekly safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of structural fitting experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience using layout and measuring tools with precision.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Successful completion of Powell’s structural fitting and blueprint assessment.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in an industrial manufacturing environment throughout the shift.
• Ability to work overtime as business needs require.
