The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

A fantastic opportunity to bring your strong analytical, problem-solving and relationship management skills to this role within our Financial Operations team. As a trusted team member, you will be encouraged to question the status quo and find ways to improve how we work.

The purpose of this role is two-fold, firstly to support core financial services processes, systems, and digital payments within the Financial Operations teams. Secondly, partnering with the wider business and relevant external stakeholders to deliver financial operational and system design, and implement and support change and continuous improvement initiatives. The support and financial operational design required in this role extends across several large and complex business, revenue and payment systems.

With a mix of support (process, systems and user), reporting, and interesting project work, you will not lack variety in this role. Working with a host of users and range of systems, each day will present different challenges and opportunities, requiring strong problem-solving, sound judgement and an ability to think outside the box.

There may be some travel involved in the role.

About you | Ko wai koe

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Effective relationship management skills and confidence engaging with or presenting to different audiences.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability, including error detection and resolution capabilities.
  • Experience in data analytics , a high level of proficiency in the use and manipulation of financial databases as well as Microsoft Excel.
  • Extensive working knowledge of financial management information and business systems, including the use and reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers in a general ledger environment.
  • Experience in both process improvements and understanding business processes and utilising these to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex technical scenarios into business context, with a proven track record in evaluating and resolving complex issues.
  • Experience in training, process documentation, and providing support/guidance to users.
  • Ability to create accurate and timely reports, including ad hoc requests for information.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, but relevant experience is acceptable.

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

You’ll be part of the Te Ama – Commercial and Corporate group, within the Financial Operations team. The Revenue Services & Projects team provides expert financial advice and analysis to support NZTA’s strategic initiatives and digital payment services. We manage financial systems processing over $5.4bn in annual revenue and 14.2 million transactions.
