  • Assist in the development and enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and reporting practices consistent with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to less experienced team members, assisting with complex accounting matters and escalated issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or significant progress toward obtaining CPA certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Working knowledge of STAT and applicable regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research, interpret, and apply complex accounting guidance.
  • Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, performing reconciliations, and conducting financial trend and variance analyses.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical accounting standards, regulatory statutes, legal agreements, and applicable tax laws.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous public accounting experience.
  • Experience with statutory financial reporting, NAIC requirements, or financial reporting within the insurance or healthcare industry.
  • Experience supporting external audits, regulatory examinations, or complex financial reporting activities.
