In this role, you'll:

Play a role in the preparation of annual financial statements across several Transport portfolio agencies, ensuring full compliance with statutory, legislative and Treasury reporting requirements. You’ll coordinate timely internal, external and statutory reporting and work closely with teams across Group Finance and Shared Services to drive consistency, best practice financial control and reporting efficiency across the portfolio.

Work closely with finance teams and stakeholders, provide clear and practical technical accounting advice, translating complex accounting standards and legislative requirements into easy-to-understand guidance.

Support the integrity of financial reporting through the review of balance sheet reconciliations and the continuous enhancement of internal controls, policies and processes.

Play a key role in managing diverse financial reporting obligations, driving process improvements, and contributing to change initiatives across a large and complex organisation.

Utilise advanced data analysis and Excel skills to interpret large data sets, prepare financial reports, and deliver insights that support informed business decisions.

This role operates under Transport for NSW’s flexible and hybrid working arrangements, with regular on-site attendance required at offices in Macquarie Park and other Sydney metropolitan locations in line with business needs.

About you

You bring strong statutory reporting experience, ideally gained in a large or complex organisation, and a solid understanding of accounting standards, legislation and financial reporting principles. You have excellent technical accounting capability and the confidence to provide well-reasoned advice to finance teams and stakeholders.

You communicate clearly and can distil complex accounting issues into simple, actionable insights. You build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, work collaboratively across teams and remain effective when priorities shift.

You have proven experience preparing financial statements, analysing large data sets, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and identifying opportunities to strengthen controls or improve reporting processes. You are comfortable working within a complex organisational environment and can contribute to continuous improvement while supporting change.

You hold a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Commerce and are a full member of CA or CPA with at least two years’ post-qualification financial reporting experience. You are ideally based in the Sydney metropolitan area.
