About the Role

What You Will Do
- Manage day-to-day FCC operations seamlessly, overseeing onboarding workflows, transaction monitoring, RFI management, and acting as the primary escalation point for internal queries.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members, coordinating daily tasks to ensure peak operational efficiency and high-quality outputs.
- Optimize and streamline internal FCC workflows to eliminate bottlenecks, accelerating client onboarding without ever compromising regulatory standards.
- Refine FCC systems by proactively fine-tuning transaction monitoring rules and screening parameters to enhance threat detection and reduce false positives.
- Oversee the collection and precise analysis of Management Information (MI) for the Risk and Compliance Committee, Board of Directors, Auditors, and Regulators.
- Investigate and identify complex AML/CFT suspicions or high-risk matters, providing crucial updates and strategic recommendations to the MLRO.
- Lead Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes for the Institution’s most complex and high-risk B2B and B2C clients, participating directly in key retention and onboarding decisions.
- Design and maintain a robust, evolving AML/CFT framework, conducting annual Business Risk Assessments (BRA) and Jurisdiction Risk Assessments (JRA).
- Cultivate and manage strong relationships with regulators (FIAU/MFSA) and external stakeholders, ensuring the AML/CFT framework consistently exceeds supervisory expectations.
- Ensure the timely, accurate submission of all periodic reporting to regulatory bodies, fulfilling all statutory obligations.
- Develop and deliver specialized AML/CFT training sessions and periodic briefings for staff, the Executive Team, and the Board of Directors.
What You Bring
- Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a similar FCC, compliance, or risk role within the financial services industry or at a specialized AML/CFT consultancy firm.
- Educational Background: A Higher Education Qualification in Law, Finance, Banking, Criminology, or a closely related field.
- Regulatory Mastery: Deep, working knowledge of core AML/CTF and Transaction Monitoring legislation, specifically including a thorough understanding of the FIAU’s Implementing Procedures.
- Technical Acumen: Strong familiarity with Customer Due Diligence (CDD) requirements for diverse onboarding scenarios and a solid understanding of various payment methods (e.g., Bank transfers, Card payments, PISP, APM).
- Decisive Leadership: Confident decision-making and judgment skills, capable of navigating high-stakes compliance scenarios in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory insights to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Bonus Points:
- ACAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification or an equivalent industry credential.
- Prior experience conducting or participating in onsite regulatory inspections and audits.
