We are looking for a Financial Analyst II (individual contributor) to perform business-specific Financial Planning & Analysis activities in support of a partner financial organization. This person will own the Operating Expense (OpEx) and Headcount (HC) planning, forecasting, and reporting processes, serving as the primary finance point of contact for the supported organization.

The successful candidate will analyze workload drivers to assess headcount needs, ensuring staffing plans are aligned with business demand and operational goals. They will be responsible for monitoring and enforcing budget adherence, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to ensure the organization operates within its approved financial plan. This person will build financial and operational reports that influence decision-making and will develop actionable insights that enable leadership to make informed, data-driven decisions.

This person will become the trusted business advisor by sharing findings with business leaders, supporting them by providing data analysis and business insights. They will partner closely with business leaders to translate financial data into clear narratives that drive strategic outcomes, including headcount trade-off discussions, investment prioritization, and cost optimization opportunities.

Key job responsibilities
- OpEx Management: Own the end-to-end operating expense reporting and variance analysis for the supported organization, identifying key drivers of spend and recommending corrective actions.
- Headcount Planning & Analysis: Analyze workload drivers and operational metrics to determine headcount requirements; maintain HC forecasts and track actuals against plan.
- Budget Adherence: Monitor financial performance against the approved budget, flag deviations early, and partner with business leaders to develop mitigation plans.
- Decision Support: Develop and deliver data-driven insights, models, and recommendations that empower senior leadership to make well-informed business decisions.
- Financial Reporting: Build and maintain financial and operational reports, dashboards, and executive-level summaries that clearly communicate performance, trends, and risks.
- Business Partnership: Drive communication at the senior manager level and articulate finance issues to non-Finance partners; serve as a trusted advisor to the supported organization's leadership team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams across Finance, HR, and the business to align on headcount plans, budget targets, and operational priorities.

Global Finance Solutions (GFS) is Amazon's Finance Center of Excellence, focused on delivering high-quality financial solutions across the company. GFS currently partners with 42+ sub-teams across seven FGBS verticals, supporting over 1,000+ unique deliverables of varied frequency

Basic Qualifications


- Bachelor's degree or above in finance, accounting or a related field
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
- Experience in capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar
- - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and translate them into actionable insights.
- - Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
- Experience working with Anaplan for financial planning, forecasting, and modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in finance or equivalent
- Experience with Oracle, Essbase, TM1 and similar tools, or experience in multiple finance and accounting roles
- Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Quick Sight, Tableau, Power BI or other BI packages
- Experience using data and metrics to influence senior leadership and drive organizational change
- Experience prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
- Experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
